The position of Material Handler includes multiple tasks that ultimately provide good manufacturing practices and on time delivery to the customer.  The individual must be able to oversee and participate in the shipping, receiving, storing and issuing of inventory, as well as maintain receiving and inventory control records. 

A Day in the Life:

• Ensure full compliance with safety protocols, resulting in zero violations; actively participate in safety talks, audits, and observations.

• Follow standard operating procedures for all tasks.

• Operate a forklift regularly.

• Lead and support daily warehouse operations, including receiving, identifying, storing, and shipping materials.

• Assist with general warehouse duties as needed.

• Maintain accurate records, files, and reports.

• Support operational improvements to enhance performance.

• Translate site goals into actionable daily plans with measurable targets and KPIs, in collaboration with supervisors and managers.

• Help prioritize routine and non-routine maintenance activities.

• Allocate resources effectively to meet business objectives.

• Ensure smooth handoffs and continuity across shift teams.

• Supervise and develop Material Handlers, providing coaching and feedback.

• Identify skill gaps and create development opportunities for team members.

• Act as a role model for staff and hourly personnel.

• Support incident investigations and ensure timely follow-up on action items.

• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and PMC teams to prioritize work aligned with safety and business goals.

• Develop expertise in site processes.

• Serve as backup to the Logistics Area Supervisor.

You Bring This Value :

• 5 years of technical or operations experience in a Polymer Compounding Plant (manufacturing and supervisory experience preferred)

• Minimum 4 years in a manufacturing environment, including at least 1 year in a leadership role (Polymer Compounding experience preferred)

• Background in logistics operations

• Results-driven with strong communication and leadership skills

• Demonstrated integrity and alignment with LyondellBasell values

• Solid understanding of company policies, plant procedures, maintenance practices, and HSE regulations

• Familiarity with MOWP and operational safety standards

• Team-oriented with proven ability to lead and develop others

• 3–6 months of forklift experience required

• Valid driver’s license

• Willingness to work overtime or weekends on short notice

• Basic math and computer skills

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately

• Strong communication skills with coworkers and management

• Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English

• Reliable time management and ability to meet deadlines

• Capable of delegating tasks and supporting cross-functional teams

• Consistent attendance with minimal absences

• Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more

• Ability to work with fiberglass

• Willing and able to comply with respiratory fit testing (where applicable)

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required to be worn

• Ability to work in moderate noise level atmosphere

• Ability to work in an environment that is not temperature-controlled; very warm temperatures in summer months
