As a leading member of the Laboratory team, you will be responsible for overseeing daily laboratory functions and assisting lab technicians to provide efficient and cost-effective routine and non-routine analytical and physical testing on products produced and/or samples generated at this site. Laboratory Technician Coordinator is also accountable for working safely, independently, and efficiently while always seeking to implement methods which reduce costs, improve quality, and reduce the potential for injury. You will be accountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers, promoting a safe work environment, and conducting all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.
A Day in the Life
• Promote an environment in which everyone is treated with respect.
• Promote LYB Core Competencies.
• Oversee and perform routine and non-routine sample analyses on in/post process and raw materials.
• Document, communicate, and archive analytical results.
• Evaluate quality control standards to ensure validity of sample results.
• Assist with making in-process color corrections when needed.
• Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Execute routine verifications as required and maintain associated records.
• Participate in committees dealing with investigations, policy, and procedure development, and improving the workplace environment.
• Candidate is required to mentor and guide other laboratory technicians.
• Engage in frequent developmental dialog with supervisors and others to continually enhance personal and group performance.
• Forklift Operation.
• Complete tasks wearing required personal protective equipment which may include fire protective clothing, goggles, face shields, gloves, steel toe boots, hearing protection, respirators, etc.
• Assist with and develop work instructions.
• Update inspection plans as needed.
• Assist with daily shipping needs. (color plaques, color reports, UD, SAP/SM errors, etc.)
• Assist with RCA investigations, QNs, and internal audits.
• Assist with UL submissions.
You Bring This Value
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a laboratory technician.
- Experience with SAP.
- Experience with Sample Manager.
- Experience with Documentum .
- Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Must be willing and able to provide overtime coverage.
- Must be willing and able to work occasional plant callouts.
- Must be willing to work with hazardous and/or flammable chemicals (with proper safety precautions, training, and equipment).
- Must be willing and able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be willing and able to work in environments that require frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs.
- Pass pre-employment testing including a physical, drug and alcohol screening, and background check.
- Proficient computer skills are required to effectively use requisite software applications.
- Polymer testing experience.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a diverse set of cross functional groups.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to perform job with minimal direction from supervision and identify opportunities to develop self.
