Roles & Responsibilities

  • Leadership of production shift team, including managing, developing and communicating with their team.
  • Assists in planning, directing, and managing the day-to-day personnel and operations of the Production Department, including operator scheduling in order to meet sales requirements.
  • Assists the Production Manager in monitoring and controlling direct operating costs of the Production Department, operating efficiencies, capital improvements, and preparation of operating budgets.
  • Is responsible for daily product quality, investigations of quality problems and customer complaints, direction of SPC and designed experiments, and assists with the preparation of the AQP and the AOP.
  • Administers the Production Department safety program, accident investigations, and safety projects.  Ensures that housekeeping and hazard communication standards are maintained. 
  • Assumes overall plant responsibility on off-hours and weekends, including but not limited to Incident Command responsibilities.
  • Directs maintenance activities within the Production Department by daily and weekly planning.  Responsible for coordinating and sometimes supervising maintenance personnel on off-shirts and weekends.
  • Supervisors and monitors all Production Department operations personnel training.  Completes required training as planning on the ATP. Ensures that all operator certifications required for TCPA and OSHA PSM regulations are maintained.
  • Ensures that all job analysis procedures are updated, documented and followed as work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that operators know their responsibilities and holds operators accountable to accomplish their responsibilities.
  • Ensures that weekly time sheets are filled out accurately and submitted timely.
  • Must satisfy all ERT requirements and perform the ERT functions and responsibilities.
  • Ensures that the Safety, Quality and Environmental Policy & Objectives are implemented and understood by all department personnel.
  • Ensures that the ISO Production Department Procedures Manual is implemented and updated as needed
  • Directs warehouse activities as needed.
  • Ensures that operating personnel are familiar with sections of the Environmental Compliance Plan and Waster Plan that impact their area.
  • Responsible for meeting of Responsible Care Codes within the Production Department.
  • Assists the engineering and technical departments in new product trails and the commercialization of new products in the plant.  Ensures that any temporary procedures adhere to safety rules and environmental standards, and that operators are trained adequately.
  • Ensures all SAP transactions are done accurately, for example maintenance work orders, production orders, etc.
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned.
  • Understands and helps implement the site’s Quality Policy and Continuous Improvement Process (CIP).
  • Is fully aware of all position-specific quality assurance responsibilities.
  • Is familiar with site wide Document Control, Internal Quality, Corrective Action, Non-Conforming Product, and Record Keeping procedures.
  • Ensures that all subordinate employees are aware of and are adequately trained in quality procedures.

Min. Qualifications

  • High school diploma required, Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or technical field preferred
  • At least 5 years’ experience in engineering, plant operations, or technical field in addition to supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated strong technical skills in the Production area including the following areas:  batch and continuous unit operations, utilities and wastewater.
  • Strong communication skills-both verbally and in writing to effectively work with a diverse set of cross functional groups and W.R. Grace
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate others with strong leadership and teamwork abilities.
  • Demonstrated strong independent
