Basic Function


The Edison, New Jersey (EDO) site has an opportunity for an Operations Trainer / Human and Organizational Performance (H&OP) Ambassador.

The purpose of this job is to ensure operations training for operator comprehension on assigned duties and tasks with one on one training programs to help with on the job training. The successful candidate will work also closely with the Edison site Operation’s Front Line Leader (FLS) population leadership team to ensure full compliance, enhanced PSM awareness, and improved performance. Additionally, the desired candidate will function as the site’s H&OP Ambassador developing ways to utilize learnings in human behavioral science to reduce operations risk.  

Roles & Responsibilities

  • On site position (EDO)
  • Reports to the Operations Manager  
  • Ability to convey correct processes and procedures to safely ensure task completion to others.
  • Develop and maintain department training matrix, learning needs analysis, lesson plans, learning aids and tests.
  • Ensure department training goals are aligned with business and site goals.
  • Develop and maintain department training schedules.
  • Provide assistance with all computer based learning tools.
  • Coordinate department specific training including training forecasts of up coming test.
  • Conducts training where appropriate, one-on-one or group.
  • Ensures all required training records are up-to-date and maintained following HRO Records Retention Policy.
  • Communicates all overdue training deficiencies to FLS, PSC & process specialist..
  • Functions as site’s H&O Ambassador – working with corporate office H&OP team to study EDO incidents and apply H&OP principals to EDO risk reduction
  • Required to report out on site H&OP goals an processes.
  • Communicate and execute Corporate H&OP Metrics to EDO employee population
  • Anticipates challenges and recommends innovative solutions for complex problems.
  • Delivers GoalZERO performance through strong leadership, employee/contractor involvement 
  • Partners with all levels of the manufacturing process to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Must be comfortable in working with a represented workforce.
     

Min. Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a plant operations, or technical field within the chemical, petrochemical or oil and gas industry
  • Strong communication skills-both verbally and in writing to effectively work with a diverse set of cross functional groups
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate others with strong leadership and teamwork abilities.
  • Demonstrated strong independent decision making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, drive improvement in others, delegate and empower others, be a champion of change, problem solve, and have excellent technical orientation 
  • Computer skills in applications such as Microsoft Office, Word and Excel. 
  • Must have excellent management /interaction skills to effectively manage daily requirements including customer relations. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Chemical, Engineering or Technical field
  • Experience in the chemical, petrochemical or oil and gas industry
  • The ability and flexibility to be successful in a high paced, continuous manufacturing operation.
