 LyondellBasell is seeking a bright, energetic Rotating Equipment Engineer to join our Edison team, supporting plant operations, maintenance, and reliability. Working in a team environment, it carries responsibility for implementing reliability best practices, developing and optimizing preventive maintenance tasks, and supporting maintenance activities. The position interacts with other technical groups on site (process engineering, capital project, and maintenance), corporate technical networks, and vendors/suppliers as needed to resolve problems and improve plant safety and reliability performance.  

A Day in the Life

  • Be the site subject matter expert for a variety of machinery assets. (e.g. pumps, compressors, fans, gearboxes, etc.)  
  • Monitor equipment performance and make improvement recommendations. 
  • Apply data analysis techniques to develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and other problems related to rotating equipment (e.g. pumps, compressors, fans, gear boxes, agitators, etc.)  
  • Consult with peers at the site and across the company to develop and implement best practices. 
  • Serve as a resource and conduit to share machinery best practices and leverage operating improvement opportunities across the site and company.  
  • Lead development of long range plan for plant machinery upgrades, maintenance, overhauls, and overall equipment strategy.  
  • Provide technical support/expertise within your discipline in the design and installation stages of projects for new assets and modification of existing assets to minimize life cycle cost and maximize asset availability. 
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technology, assessing applicability to improve reliability and performance, or to reduce maintenance cost of machinery.  
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis. 
  • Participate in turnaround planning, execution, and optimization activities. 
  • Systematically define, design, develop, monitor, and refine an asset maintenance plan that includes:  
  • Support and mentor junior mechanical engineers.  
  • Develop value-added preventive maintenance tasks. 
  • Effective utilization of predictive condition monitoring to proactively identify potential reliability issues 
  • Applying value analysis to repair/replace/redesign decisions 
  • Providing technical support to production, maintenance, project, and process engineering groups. 
  • Lead Management of Change (MOC) process for equipmen, maintenance, and operations changes   

You Bring This Value

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other applicable discipline from an accredited university 
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in rotating equipment design, installation, and maintenance in the refining, petrochemical, chemical process, or power generation industries 
  • Ability to drive continuous safety and reliability improvements in equipment installations and work processes 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with internal and external clients 
  • Strong commitment to safety, a high level of personal integrity, and dedication to conducting business in anethical way 
  • Proficient in rotating equipment (pumps, centrifugal, screw compressors, reciprocating compressors, fans, gearboxes, agitators.) 
  • Knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (i.e. ASME, API, ANSI) 
  •     Ability to perform machinery diagnostics and specify repairs  
  • Condition monitoring 
  • RCM based Predictive and Preventive Maintenance strategies 
  • Component Failure analysis 
  • Root cause analysis 
  • Barrier Failure analysis 
  • Reliability data analysis 
  •  Ability to apply computer software tools (SAP, Microsoft Office, Meridium)

  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $137,920.00 - $206,880.00 . The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
