This position coordinates the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of effectiveness of training and PSM activities required for the safe, reliable and efficient operation and maintenance of the different operating units at the LaPorte Site. This position will support the training efforts for all complex employees that may also include specific focus area e.g. operations, maintenance, etc. The training specialist will drive compliance with all regulatory training, site prescribed training and skill enhancement training specific to the site needs. The training specialist must also ensure that all training is documented in accordance with applicable company standards.
A Day in the Life
• Design, develop, deliver, coordinate and implement training across the site when/where needed
• Coordinate technician certification and re-certification efforts
• Manage, develop and assign all curriculums for assigned areas of responsibility
• Evaluate the effectiveness of all training
• Create, manage and update learning management system (LMS) courses. Work with outside vendors on larger training projects.
• Coordinate the creation and update of all training packages and manuals.
• Assist in the development of assessments and review all training materials for validity and objectivity.
• Collaborate and share courses with US Manufacturing Training (GTLS) for operations new hire training.
• Assist HSE department in training of workforce on HSE procedures
• Complete training need analysis for the site in accordance with company standards.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of site training programs through KPIs reporting.
You Bring This Value
• This position requires at least five years of plant operations experience in petrochemical manufacturing.
• The incumbent must have good knowledge of plant operating procedures, maintenance, safety, process safety management and ISO 9000 standards (where applicable).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as well as excellent organization, presentation, and interaction skills, and the ability to effectively interface with employees at all levels
• The ability to work independently and manage multiple issues and projects in a teamwork oriented environment is necessary to effectively perform on this position.
• A strong working knowledge of MS Office suite and digital learning platforms is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous training/teaching experience or a certification in instructional systems design and training delivery techniques is preferred
• Demonstrated leadership in overseeing a team and managing individual performance.
