As a member of the LyondellBasell La Porte Site Leadership Team, you will provide leadership, coaching and development to the Syngas/Methanol Technical Team and support staff to achieve business results and create value. This position requires interaction with Operations to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize operating units to drive continuous process performance improvements for the Syngas and Methanol units. Syngas Technical Manager will provide support for implementation of strategic projects to improve unit reliability performance. Position also requires collaboration with Global Intermediates and Derivatives Process Engineering to support implementation of Syngas Improvement and Value Enhancement Programs as well as long-range Capital projects. This position reports to Site Technical Manager of the La Porte Complex.

A Day in the Life

· Deliver GoalZERO HSE performance through strong cross-functional collaboration, leadership, employee involvement and management systems.

· Partner with Operations to identify new opportunities to remove constraints to maximize on-stream time and profitability while minimizing business impact and ensuring safe and reliable operation

· Analyze complex operating challenges and collaborate to provide recommendations to improve performance

· Provide leadership during troubleshooting, outages/turnarounds, startups and shutdowns

· Contribute in cross-functional Team environment and establish strong relationships with business resources to deliver results

· Set clear performance expectations and coach and mentor technical personnel

· Support capital, expense and special project scope development, execution, start-up support and training

· Collaboration with Global Intermediates and Derivatives Process Engineering

· Support Management of change process (MOC/PSSR)

· Maintain area Long-Range Capital plan

· Responsible for implementation and adherence of corporate standards, including fostering continuous improvement related to Engineering Discipline

· Actively support Value Enhancement Program

· Collaborate with the business team to create, plan, organize and execute short and long-term range objectives to ensure continued site and business alignment

You Bring This Value

· Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering is preferred

· A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in the chemical process industries

· Previous formal People leader and strong performance management experience is preferred

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Strong people and organizational leadership acumen demonstrated through previous experience within manufacturing and across the organization

· Innovative thinking to solve complex problems and strong decision making skills

· Ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams and interact/collaborate with all levels of the organization

· Advanced knowledge of chemical and process engineering fundamentals

· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple and changing priorities

· Self-motivation and high initiative
