Basic Function

The basic function of this role within the Maintenance Department is to Provide direct supervision LYB technicians and administer the Maintenance Operation Workflow Process and function as a High Voltage gatekeeper and ensure that all work requests for maintenance are scrutinized for impact and justification prior to approval. This function is responsible for driving the process by ensuring that all work, including HSE, regulatory, quality, and reliability work adds value and is prioritized based on the needs of the unit and business. This role works with the cost center managers to manage unit Power Distribution maintenance costs by tracking / forecasting monthly spending and approving discretionary spending. This role is also responsible Supervising, scheduling and coordination of all work in the power distribution areas ,long range planning and scheduling of distribution PM’s, and will act as the designee of the area proprietor of the distribution areas.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to assigned personnel so as to ensure that maintenance activities are performed safely and efficiently to high quality standards.
  • Provide guidance and support for technicians to develop technical and leadership skills.
  • Collaborate with business unit counterparts to identify future maintenance requirements and continuously improve the effectiveness of maintenance services.
  • Responsible for the execution of routine and shutdown maintenance activities.
  • Continuously seek out and drive cost reduction projects and best practices related to maintenance functions and work management systems.
  • Participate in the development of quality job plans by working with planners and participating in field walk through.
  • Participate in the development of weekly and daily work schedules.
  • Reviewing schedules and providing constructability feedback, as necessary.
  • Leading tool-box Safety Meetings, communicating schedule changes, as necessary, and reviewing job scopes with technicians.
  • Responding to priority 1 and priority 2 jobs: Reviews call-outs and provides feedback and coaching as necessary to insure optimal use of maintenance resources. Validates and documents break-ins. Creates and releases priority 1 orders during normal working hours. Directs notifications to Material Coordinator based on planning criteria.
  • Communicates needs to scheduler and negotiates necessary schedule changes. Approves overtime as necessary to drive work to completion.
  • Reviewing and managing notification process by: Verifying accuracy and completeness of job scopes. Providing feedback to the technicians when notifications are not properly entered or are entered with insufficient descriptions. Insuring the appropriate priority is assigned.
  • Insures the MOC process is followed when necessary.
  • Assigning notifications to Planning Priority list relative to required completion date and participating in field reviews as necessary.
  • Reviewing and providing direction to planning for jobs requiring MOC’s, cost approvals, or changes in start dates due to material or services requirements
  • Continually reviewing notification and work order back log to insure jobs with highest priority (S&H, PM, PREV) and providing most value are prioritized, planned, and executed in a timely fashion such that regulatory requirements are maintained and reliability of the unit is not jeopardized. Eliminates duplicate notifications and provides appropriate feedback Eliminates non-value added work notifications.
  • Promptly closes (TECO) orders upon job completion Managing Notification backlog
  • Providing approval for expediting and overtime requirements to insure jobs will complete in time to meet the needs of the process unit.
  • Participating in the development and adherence to maintenance schedules by: Providing prioritized list of NTBS jobs to scheduler and ensuring electrical resources are properly leveled across all areas. Reviewing preliminary schedules to insure they meet the needs of the process units and are in line with the maintenance budget.
  • Acts as liaison between operations and maintenance groups on any problems adhering to the schedule.
  • Routinely reviewing the status of current spending vs. the Maintenance budget and notifying the Cost Center Manager of any expected overages.
  • Participating in the identification and implementation of reliability driven improvements.
  • Acting as designee of the Area Proprietor for Power Distribution (High Voltage) ensuring permitting process is followed correctly. Ensuring proper energy isolation is utilized. Writing, Reviewing, and Approving Switching Orders

Min. Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in High Voltage Electrical Distribution
  • Thorough technical understanding of industrial electrical distribution systems
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • SAP and MS Office suite
  • Must be highly motivated and results oriented

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the chemical manufacturing and/or refining industry is preferred.
