Basic Function

The Security Coordinator is an individual contributor who manages security to protect company assets for the La Porte Complex. They shall oversee day to day security operations, maintain compliance with both regulatory agencies and LYB company standards and will be the Security focal point for the La Porte Complex.  The candidate will proactively take ownership and influence decisions for the development and continued improvement of site security. The Security Specialist reports to the site Health and Safety Manager.

Roles & Responsibilities

•    Manage programs at the La Porte Complex to meet LYB Operational Excellence OES_040 security management standards. 
•    Performing security duties to include protecting company assets and responding to security threats. 
•    Manage communication, emergency notification, two-way radios, security monitoring, and fire/hazard systems as assigned.
•    Performing duties as per Facility Site Security Procedures and Facility Security Plan (FSP)
•    Project administration skills necessary to implement processes and procedures.
•    Interacts with the public as a site first responder to security incidents and potentially suspicious activities at the perimeter and within the La Porte Complex.
•    Enforces site security processes and procedures, to include facility entry requirements.
•    Investigates security incidents and writes security incident reports.
•    Utilizes computer systems on a routine basis to prepare and file security reports and maintain other security data.
•    Serves as a technical expert and resource to contractor security officers regarding security systems and software, including:
    o    The Site-Wide Emergency Notification System
    o    Badge OnGuard access control system
    o    Incident Management System
    o    Emerge/E-Notify Emergency Paging/Notification System
    o    Key and Lock Systems
    o    Security CCTV
    o    Security Drone
•    Ensures contract security officers perform their duties to site procedures developed based on Operational Excellence standards and seeks to drive continuous improvement in daily performance; Performs security audits of security contractors 
•    Serves as a security consultant.
•    Responds to afterhours security situations
•    Works effectively with a broad range of work groups, including employees, contractors, visitors, vendors, delivery drivers, family members, members of the local community, local and federal law enforcement, and plant leadership.
•    Maintains compliance with regulatory agencies through auditing and inspection of facility programs.
•    Coordination of security to include providing leadership, coaching and development of less experienced personnel. Maintains advanced knowledge of specific technical and regulatory requirements providing innovative ideas and highly specialized information to positively affect security performance.
•    Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies by leading/ participating in required drills and exercises.
•    Provides innovative security and asset control ideas and applies highly specialized acquired knowledge to guide less seasoned Security professionals to positively affect the company's overall performance
•    Member of the Emergency Operations Center Team.
•    Provides Security Coordination and planning duties during turnarounds, outages, and Capital Projects
•    Exceptional analytical skills to effectively evaluate system performance, troubleshooting and mastery of continuous process improvement tools
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interface with and relate complex concepts/issues with all levels

Min. Qualifications

•    High School diploma or GED required
•    Prior supervisory experienced preferred
•    Minimum of 8-10 years relevant experience
•    Experience in chemical / Petro-Chemical / refining manufacturing environment preferred.
•    Facility Security Officer Certification or training that meets the requirements of 33 CFR Part 105, preferred. 
•    Must be able to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and effectively serve as a contributing member of a multi-functional team as required.
•    Preferred familiarization with security IT systems management (i.e., Lenel OnGuard, Emerge/E-Notify, ISNetworld, etc.)
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, SAP or similar system
•    Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and experience in presenting.
•    Must also be able to effectively and reliably interface with all levels of employees / contractors / visitors / venders at the site and government agencies.
