Basic Function

This position supervises the unit Operations Technicians to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the Corpus Christi Olefins Plant, CCO, in Corpus Christi, TX. The Operations Supervisor and shift team ensure safe and optimum operating conditions are maintained to produce on specification products at maximum rate, while ensuring regulatory parameters are met. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the performance and development of up their Operations Technicians. The Operations Supervisor has authority and the responsibility to manage the Site and all equipment to meet any applicable emergency situation.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Accountable for developing a high performing shift team and developing individual Operators’ skills and abilities, including performance management when appropriate.
  • Maintains knowledge of Unit procedures, equipment, and personnel to meet the objectives of the area including operations, safety, environmental, maintenance and quality performance.
  • Works with HSE personnel, unit Specialists, Engineers, and Managers to ensure operations of the unit meet Site requirements, business, and site objectives.
  • Interfaces with the maintenance personnel on maintenance execution and outages.
  • Interfaces with the project engineering and construction personnel to manage projects in the area.
  • Reports, investigates, and initiates corrective actions in the unit. Actively troubleshoots problems and develops plans to resolve issues.
  • Ensures that policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are followed.
  • Accountable for unit housekeeping and accurate completion of operating discipline documentation.
  • Leadership, coaching, and supervision skills are required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interface with employees and all departments within LyondellBasell.
  • The incumbent must have sound knowledge of Chemical Plant process equipment operation and an understanding of basic principles of process chemistry for an Olefins plant.
  • The position requires the ability to quickly read and understand Company policy, plant operating procedures, basic maintenance procedures, health, safety and environmental regulations and employee policies and practices.
  • The position requires good organizational skills with a proven ability to interface effectively with individuals from all departments within Manufacturing.
  • A good working knowledge of Maintenance Operations Workflow Process (MOWP), safety, environmental and operational policies and procedures are required.
  • The individual should work well in a team atmosphere and show ability to develop and lead teams.
  • Be willing to work a 12-hour rotating shift that will include weekends and holidays, including working outside under various weather conditions.
  • Must have strong computer skills, including SAP, Teams, and Microsoft Office.

Min. Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 10 years chemical/refinery plant operations experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years as a Step-up Supervisor or other similar leadership experience is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with DCS operating systems is desired
