The purpose or function of this job is to act as a technician to perform lab analysis for quality control of finished product, production processes, incoming raw materials and equipment calibrations. To communicate with the Supervisor/Manager, QA technicians, and manufacturing team to effectively interpret lab results in disposition of product, processes and raw material. To maintain the organization of analysis data and associated databases and maintain the organization and supply of equipment and consumables. Another function of this position is to support the existing products of the Compound Division by molding, preparing and testing product samples as directed, and writing reports and communicating results.

A Day in the Life

  • Perform analysis of finished products, in-process materials, and viscosity to support quality control.
  • Conduct raw material testing and review certifications to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Accurately enter data and support product disposition decisions, including quarantine determinations.
  • Maintain laboratory organization, including equipment, supplies, and work areas.
  • Calibrate and verify laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Mold, prepare, and test product samples in accordance with established procedures.
  • Operate testing equipment, including Instron and impact testers.
  • Coordinate external testing activities and generate purchase requisitions as needed.
  • Prepare, document, and issue laboratory test reports; communicate results effectively to stakeholders.
  • Package and prepare samples for shipment to internal or external partners.Collaborate with QA technicians, supervisors, and manufacturing teams to interpret and act on test results.
  • Provide support to production operations as needed, including performing duties of a production operator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

You Bring This Value

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a technical lab role preferred; Experience with compounding operations and materials preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory techniques, with strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience in a scientific or technical environment preferred.
  • Basic understanding of materials, physical properties, and scientific methodology.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Excel, Word, and statistical tools.
  • Strong report writing, organizational, and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment, including compression presses and testing instruments.
  • Proficiency in the use of precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges, gauge pins, torque wrenches, Instron equipment).
  • Ability to multitask effectively, demonstrate initiative, and maintain high personal performance standards.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Capable of learning and applying test procedures and methods with accuracy.
  • Ability to operate, maintain, and calibrate testing equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work any shift, including weekends, as required.
  • Strong work ethic with reliable attendance and solid employment history.
  • Ability to safely work with fiberglass materials.Ability to work independently with limited supervision and direction.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

 

Education

  • Associate Degree or equivalent education in related field desired, or equivalent of 2 years of experience in lieu of degree (not required for entry level) is preferred
  • Minimum of High School diploma or GED
