Basic Function

The HSE Manager will be responsible for championing GoalZERO behaviors across all employees and contract personnel at the site and driving continuous improvement.  This position will also be responsible for driving compliance with state and federal HSE regulations and other related HSE standards and Company policies.  Provides guidance, direction and support to manufacturing site including site HSE and Occupational Safety resources on occupational safety strategy and tactics. #LI-LL2

 

These activities will require communication with a diverse group of customers, including engineering, operations, maintenance, plant management and outside regulatory agencies. 

Roles & Responsibilities

General
•    Manage HSE Programs at Site level (life critical processes, industrial hygiene, emergency response, waste handling, OSHA and EPA compliance)
•    Participate in and lead HSE teams (employee committees, response teams)
•    Interact with plant personnel to ensure a consistent understanding of regulatory and procedure requirements
•    Maintain knowledge of operating equipment and systems to which the regulations and requirements must be applied
•    Monitor HSE performance at Site and track progress.  Communicate goals and targets.
•    Identify and ensure effective and sustainable implementation of programs that improve safety performance.
•    Participate in networking among regional resources to share ideas, address and resolve common challenges and create positive change.
•    Interface with other corporate HSE and Operational Excellence functions to ensure occupational safety strategies are supported and achieved. 
•    Prepare for and Participate in Operational Excellence audits providing occupational safety focus and expertise.
•    Champion and ensure adherence to “GoalZERO” process. Ensure consistent and step-wise approach to sustaining performance improvement 
•    Provide safety expertise for incident investigations. If necessary, lead or participate directly in investigations, reports and follow-up actions.

•    This position requires excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills across multiple levels of organization and with external agencies.  
•    Ability to professionally represent Company to outside agencies
•    Ability to manage projects and multiple tasks or initiatives
•    Individual and team leadership skills
 

Min. Qualifications

Education
•    B.S. in Safety Mgmt, Engineering or equivalent in environmental, health and/or safety management or a related technical discipline preferred  
•    Certified Safety Professional or other safety professional certification/credentials preferred
 

Work Experience 
•     With Degree, 2 Years of professional experience in a chemical manufacturing or equivalent environment; Experience should be primarily in the field of occupational safety and/or industrial hygiene.
•    Without Degree 5 - 7 Years of professional experience in a chemical manufacturing or equivalent environment; Experience should be primarily in the field of occupational safety and/or industrial hygiene.
