Basic Function

This position is directly responsible in leading the team that delivers differentiated capabilities compared to others in the industry as described for >600 products and >1,200 customers and brand owners in numerous resin families, domestic and global markets, and customer packaging and conversion technologies.  The role also focuses internally on supporting the asset team in product-line optimization across facilities, technical support to manufacturing sites in the US and coordinating across regions and business segments to apply global LYB best practices.

 

The AD/TS (Application Development and Technical Service) group has a budgeted headcount of 42 individuals and is the primary technical interface for all customer and targeted brand owner applications and technical knowledge transfer.  They are responsible for providing focused technical support regarding the selection, processing, and performance of products to our customers.  Individuals work directly with customers to support LYB businesses via part design, process and cycle time optimization, tooling issues, troubleshooting, cost savings recommendations, and new application program launches.  ADTS engineers manage product specification, product system support, communications and deliverables between the customer, sales account manager, new business development team, and product application development for applicable projects. The team also acts as the focal point for managing restricted/prohibited and medical applications review process and policy adherence, UL, NSF, CSA and Automotive product information management, and the LYB Product Risk Management Plan. This role will work a hybrid schedule with at least 3 days in the office from our Cincinnati Technology Center. 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • This role is a key member of the Polymers Americas(PAM) leadership team and is central to achieving the maximum profitability of the PAM business. 
  • The position leads a group that manages all aspects of technical support, commercial product development, industrial application development and process/product troubleshooting to all customers for LyondellBasell in North America 
  • This position is responsible for managing the PAM project portfolio and costing using a Global Innovation Gate Process to maximize value and return on investment generated back to PAM business.
  • Manages the processes that govern product quality information for PAM that includes the management of change for product and manufacturing specifications and information flow processes from Quality Control laboratories to customer reporting
  • Acts as a focal point supporting Sales in new application and product program launches and customer technical support.
  • Develops/maintains KPI’s and framework for customer technical performance support and associated costs to provide transparency to performance versus targets. 
  • Leads development of LYB’s Product Risk Management Plan and global coordination across regions to ensure risk management of our products and end uses.
  • Focal point for managing restricted/prohibited and medical application review process and UL product information management
  • Partners closely with Sales, Marketing, Asset Management to maximize customer value proposition with material selection, optimization of customer part and process performance, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.  
  • Optimize business results through ability to meet customer requirements and maximize strategic partnership value to customers
     

Min. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Engineering, Technical equivalent, or Business Management is preferred.
  • MBA or advanced degree, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Typically, 20+ years of relevant experience. Relevant experience includes focused or combination of people management experience, technical experience, application development or equivalent, business analysis experience, and commercial/operational leadership.
  • Structured approach to developing effective business processes.
  • High level of problem solving abilities.
  • Strong technical organizational development and planning skills.
  • Advanced computer skills, including artificial intelligence, data analysis analytics, project management, spreadsheets, databases, graphics, statistical forecasting, and modelling. High level of expertise in Excel, Power BI, SAP, and other shared IT platforms.
  • Sound working knowledge of accounting practices and fixed/capital budgeting process.
  • Extensive knowledge of the relevant LyondellBasell PAM market segments and products, production processes, customer applications, and product and application development processes.
