The Materials Inventory Technician is responsible for having a thorough knowledge of the Repairables process, resolution of blocked invoices, and Virtual Warehouse process. Technicians may also be tasked with assisting the MM Administrator with processing Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Inventory Analysis,  Stock out analysis, conducting physical inventories, preparing monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), or be assigned special projects in addition to or in place of the below responsibilities.  Be available for on-call on a rotational basis. Respond to callouts– exercise independent judgment and decision making as it relates to proper inventory handling and control.

A Day in the Life

Specific responsibilities will be determined by the Supervisor based on personnel availability, skill requirements,
fair distribution, and workload.

  • Receiving (stock/nonstock) materials.
  • Placing materials into storage.
  • Maintaining storage of materials.
  • Picking/issuing/returning materials.
  • Safe handling and shipping of materials and returns.
  • Loading and unloading shipments using forklift.
  • Screen materials for Positive Material Identification (PMI) testing where applicable (site specific).
  • Know and follow Maintenance Operations Workflow Process (MOWP).
  • Maintain stock out log
  • Sample zone stores receipts
  • Kitting and staging process to include tracking and reporting
  • Repairables processing and tracking
  • Resolution of Blocked Invoices
  • Virtual Warehouse process
  • Maintain a safe working environment, comply with all safety guidelines, know evacuation procedure, become forklift certified, know delivery locations, skilled in loading and unloading shipments, Department of Transportation (DOT) Certification, Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) requirements compliance, knowledge of handling and storage of cylinder gases, 55 gallon drums, practice good housekeeping, attend required safety training and participate in local site safety programs, participate in routine location audits and physical inventory cycle counts. 

You Bring This Value

•    Minimum of High School degree or equivalent. 
•    Typically 6-8 years of experience warehouse expertise or equivalent experience is common.   
•    Experience working with Maintenance in a Turnaround environment.   
•    Experience working with Bill of Materials (BOM) as it relates to warehousing and Maintenance Repair &
Operations (MRO) equipment.   
•    Expertise and well developed knowledge of MRO materials.   
•    Experience or extensive training in SAP automated computer software system, including Catalog, Materials
Management and Plant Maintenance.   
•    Ability to interface with other functional areas.   
•    Understanding of business processes, Materials Management, Maintenance procedures, Maintenance
Operations Workflow Process (MOWP), and ability to actively seek continuous improvement.   
•    Thorough understanding of Zone Stores, Consignment, Just in Time, and current inventory management
techniques and their use.   
•    If necessary for the site - compile month end reports, analyze and interpret data, investigate and take
corrective action on abnormal trends.   
•    Ability to conduct location audits and cycle counts.
