Basic Function

LyondellBasell's Channelview site is looking for an experienced Technician, Maintenance Electrician.

Roles & Responsibilities

•    Accountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers and promoting a safe work environment; responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.
•    Promote an environment in which everyone is treated with respect.
•    Provide technical expertise to assist supervision and operations in the installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair 5KV and low voltage Motor Control Center equipment.  This position will also provide project coordination for new systems installation and engineering support. Conduit installation/repair.
•    Execute scheduled work by: 
•    Reviewing assigned job scopes for completeness and understanding.
•    Acquiring all necessary parts, tools, and instructions prior to starting the job to maximize work efficiency.
•    Following all necessary safety procedures and practices to isolate, clear, and work on plant equipment.
•    Ensuring work is completed per company and industry standards.
•    Working with equipment owner to complete task in a safe and timely manner.
•    Updating supervisor on job progress and any problems encountered in completing the defined scope of work.
•    Completing all documentation using a computerized maintenance management system. 
•    Respond to tasks as directed by maintenance supervision with the appropriate sense of urgency to minimize impact to process units.
•    Identify and implement reliability driven improvements.  This may include participation in site reliability teams.
•    Participate on committees dealing with investigations, policy and procedure development, and improving the work place environment.
•    Mentor other electrical maintenance technicians, as needed.
•    Engage in frequent developmental dialog with supervisor and others to continually enhance personal and group performance and development.
•    Attend additional formal training, as needed. 

Min. Qualifications

•    High school degree or GED and equivalent experience.  
•  Minimum 5 or more years of maintenance experience on electrical systems/equipment in petrochemical processing/refinery or similar environment preferred OR a successful completion of a 4-year formal apprenticeship program with accompanying OJT.
   - This must include installation, checkout, commissioning, calibration, system & component troubleshooting and repair.

 

•    In-depth knowledge/experience of electrical testing and maintenance of plant electrical systems and motor control equipment.
•    Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a diverse set of cross functional groups.
•    Commitment to the IEA craft while being willing to learn, accept new challenges and work in a team environment.
•    Ability to operate various types of equipment including hand, power, and machine tools.
•    Ability to read and interpret common P&ID's, equipment drawings, loop drawings, control schematics and maintain/redline documentation.
•    Ability to complete tasks wearing required personal protective equipment which may include fire protective clothing, goggles, face shields, gloves, steel toe boots, hearing protection, respirators, etc.
•    Ability to climb towers, ride a bicycle and lift up to 50 lbs. 
•    Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with peers and internal/external clients.
•    Ability to work extended hours and provide overtime coverage.
