Basic Function

The Technical Team Leader role supervises and develops a team of production engineers supporting to assure unit operations are in compliance with HSE and company requirements. 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Set day-to-day priorities for assigned team members
  • Ensure team members, other employees and contractors comply with site safety policies and procedures to achieve GoalZERO
  • Manage team member resources that participate in OE / PSM activities (PHAs, MOCs, etc.), Engineering, Turnaround, etc. as necessary
  • Ensure timely completion of team member assigned action items and/or defined data submissions; participate in review and extension meetings
  • Ensure site performance metrics are met through active management of team members workload and performance
  • Actively support key site work processes of operations and maintenance that have touchpoints with the technical department.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure all work activities are implemented in an efficient and cost-effective manner
  • Assist the production specialists and production engineers with troubleshooting and problem-solving support to assigned team, as needed
  • Recommend actions to maintain optimum performance 
  • Direct team involvement in identification of improvement opportunities then manage the work scope and support implementation 
  • Partner with Manufacturing and/or Business contacts to develop and implement plans to maximize revenues 
  • Mentor and coach team members based on observations and feedback
  • Facilitate team member development of and completion of Performance Appraisal Document (PAD) and Individual Development Plan (IDP)
  • Participate in STI and Merit increase determinations for team members
  • Be custodian of up-to-date documentation in assigned area
  • Primary backup for the area technical manager

Min. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of chemical manufacturing experience (8+ years preferred)
