As the Olefins Maintenance Manager you will provide leadership to all employees within the Olefins Maintenance organization. You will deliver safe, quality, efficient and effective maintenance execution to the Channelview site with a strategic view of continuous improvement and tactical focus on every day excellence. You will be part of the LyondellBasell Channelview Leadership Team and will provide leadership, development, and coaching to direct reports and support staff to achieve business results, create value, and optimize the site. This position reports to the Channelview Maintenance and Reliability Manager
A Day in the Life
• Responsible for achieving corporate and site goals in the areas of process safety, personal safety, environmental, finance, and personal development
• Responsible for ensuring your areas and the site are delivering in the Maintenance and Operations Workflow Process (MOWP) per the designed workflow each day.
• Actively monitors, analyzes and understands the performance in Key KPIs in the MOWP workflow and Budget targets in the Maintenance related budgets.
• MOWP Key KPI performance including efficiency of work
• Responsible for ensuring the maintenance resources – internal & external, company and contractor – are structured to ensure the maintenance tasks are delivered safely, with expected quality of work, efficiently and effectively delivered.
• Contractor management to maximize value of contracts and resource site per plan (budget, workload, evolving priorities)
• Leads the CVO C&R and Automotive depts.
• Identifies and supports implementation of best practices within site maintenance to standardize technology across the site and speed technology transfer among areas. Justifies these initiatives with cost/benefit analysis to site management and senior leaders
• Participate in occasional leadership roles during Turnarounds
• Collaborate with the other Maintenance Managers, Reliability Managers, and Operations Managers to ensure unit performance meets targets
• Responsible for the assurance steps necessary to prevent process safety related events from occurring including but not limited to:
o Training for competency of craft skills
o Providing training of team for requirements in standards and procedures and assuring understanding
o Quality control measures and audits to assure and validate compliance
o Addressing root causes of process safety events when root causes tie to maintenance
• Incidents in Personal Safety, Process Safety, Environmental, and Motor Vehicle Accidents caused or contributed to by this role’s organization
• Inspire and coach to optimize performance of people and processes; develop and coach people via dialogue to continuously improve knowledge, skills, and ability; holding people accountable; developing successors and talent pools
• Address performance management of team reporting into their organization
• Maintain a short and long term strategy for Maintenance at the site with a defined journey map, action items, and guides the organization through decisions that align with delivering the strategy
• With budget and organization, adjust resources such as FTE, budgets, vehicles, etc. as long as overall and business unit target is met
• Assume responsibilities as given to the role by existing DOA practices and procedures.
You Bring This Value
• Engineering Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10-12 years of experience in a progressively more responsible positions in petrochemical or refining process operations or in lieu of degree, 15 years’ experience.
• 5 years of previous industry leadership experience in Maintenance and/or Reliability required.
• Previous people leader and/or management experience is required.
• Knowledge of company policies, Maintenance and Operations Workflow Process (MOWP).
• Strong system skills for design and execution delegation of maintenance systems such as Operational Excellence, Mechanical Integrity, preventative/predictive maintenance programs, and process tracking.
• Ability to develop a strategy and collaborate with the other Maintenance Managers to generate improvements.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and with external suppliers
• Ability to work effectively with others outside the line of formal authority to accomplish organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems.
• Maintain and promote social, ethical, and organizational norms in conducting internal and external business activities.
• Maintain stable performance under time pressures or job ambiguity.
