Basic Function

Leads a Project Engineering Support team responsible for the design of LyondellBasell projects in support of project managers assigned to projects outlined in the CVO Plant Project Portfolio and the associated Long Range Plan (LRP). In this role, the incumbent will manage a group of discipline designers, document control technicians, and coordinate third party engineering to successfully develop scopes in the early stages of projects and in support of the detailed design process required to produce an IFA/IFC construction drawing set. The Manager, Project Engineering Support is accountable for managing against a fixed cost budget commensurate with projects in the LRP over the course of the 5 year plan. He/She ensures that all post project audits are performed to measure success and identify opportunities for improvement.

 

The Project Engineering Support Manager for the Site Improvements group at the Channelview Facility is located 18 short miles from Downtown Houston, TX. Our 4,000-acre Channelview Manufacturing facility consists of two olefin units at the north side facility that manufacture ethylene, propylene, butadiene and benzene. The south side facility uses many of these products to produce propylene oxide, styrene monomer and other derivatives. Roles & Responsibilities

  • Manages resources across the project support organization in support of small, minor, and major project design
  • Implements projects against plans developed in conjunction with the Portfolio Manager and Project Manager Lead
  • Coordinates with the Regional Discipline Engineering Manager to ensure project scopes and designs meet LYB standards and preferred practices
  • Participates/leads the resolution of technical and commercial issues associated with projects at CVO
  • Participates directly in commercial/technical contract negotiations for third party engineering support
  • Tracks status of work progress against initial project design milestones to drive schedule compliance
  • Ensures adherence to Management of Change process requirements for execution of expense and capital projects and provides KPI reports to drive compliance
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement to the existing work practices and drives changes reduce project cost and schedule

Min. Qualifications

  • College Degree in engineering, preferably chemical or mechanical
  • 10 years of manufacturing experience 
  • Strong leadership, team building, and communication skills are essential
