Basic Function

The HR Generalist will have responsibility for the HR partnership role supporting business units at the Channelview site.  This position will provide support duties to a high functioning manufacturing team of HR professionals as well as to various senior and site leadership. The position will also act as support function, assisting in running reports, document preparation and data entry.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Able to influence others with whom he/she has no direct authority (i.e. clients).
  • Ability to drive change; challenge the status quo; and take specific actions to facilitate change.
  • Assists in the preparation of various reports and presentations, performing data analysis as needed on such topics as succession planning, headcount analysis, and various other HR related initiatives. Assists with formal presentations, in a clear, concise and logical sequence at a level appropriate to the audience.
  • Contributes to the implementation and communication of HR policies and procedures, answering queries accordingly. 
  • Assists Talent & Acquisition in the recruitment processes, assisting in the development of position requisitions and job postings, and provides onboarding support for assigned client groups.
  • Champion our pay and performance vision by ensuring managers and supervisors use dialogue to provide coaching and feedback on performance and results.
  • Assists HRBP’s, HRM’s and HR Director with various HR related operational matters such as hiring processes, employee separations, medical leaves, exit interviews, payroll changes, etc.
  • Supports Payroll with hourly and salaried payrolls; including pay code support, system adjustments/corrections, obtaining site personnel involvement – all in a timely manner to meet strict deadline.
  • Process turn-around and major project special compensation; ensure eligibility, verify time worked, calculate compensation for local domestic and international employees.
  • Identify and provide solutions for handling “people” concerns as related to business issues.
  • Supports the planning and coordination of major HR process, programs, and/or projects to ensure departmental goals are completed on time, and with optimum quality; processes/projects may include performance calibration, talent management, merit process, employee engagement, etc.
  • Maintains, manipulates and analyzes spreadsheets and/or databases for department; enters, compiles and arranges data, computations, and verifies accuracy of data; identifies and resolves issues or problems with data; develops recommendations to remedy errors and mitigate future occurrences; Identifies and recommends work processes efficiencies; implements enhancements to methods and procedures as applicable.
  • Manage the VOE (Vocational Office Education) program; working with high school instructor, interviewing students each school year, completing requisition and onboarding, and provide continued support to students and mentors.
  • Takes actions to ensure diversity is a part of doing business – teams, projects, meetings and other work activities.
  • Provides varied administrative support activities including, but not limited to, maintaining files and forms, processing and maintaining various project documentation, etc.
  • Act as a change agent, providing expert counsel as a partner in successfully managing continuous improvement.

Min. Qualifications

  • Advanced Excel skills (macros, pivot tables, V-lookup), and advanced PPT skills. Additionally, have an understanding our how systems relate and data is shared between various systems (SAP, Success Factors, etc.)
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years’ experience within an HR department in an operations/administrative role.
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, solution-oriented, team player.
  • Exceptional analytical skills.
  • English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or in progress) preference for business administration or Human Resources Management and a minimum of 1 year experience as a Human Resource Generalist.
  • PowerBI experience is a plus.
