The Raw Materials Coordinator (RMC) is accountable for inventory, forecasted use, update of expected deliveries to Security, quality of material, and receipt file retention for audits/Technical engineering information of all raw materials associated with the Channelview. The Raw Materials Coordinator is responsible for working with plant personnel, Corporate Purchasing, transportation companies, and all vendors for issue resolution of additives and chemical bulk deliveries and entering these issues/resolutions into GAPS. The RMC is responsible for working with SAP to reconcile inventories of raw material and feedstock. The RMC is responsible for assuring that new CC&A MSDS’ are obtained for Chemical Review Committee before additive/chemical arrives on site and to update MSDS’ in files that have already been approved.
A Day in the Life
· Monitor material inventories relative to the production task schedule or last minute changes. Release orders in SAP for raw materials/chemicals against established contracts or enter requisitions to be taken to a purchase order for items not on contracts. Assure correct material and amount is moved to each unit for production. Order railcars supplies, packaging, placards, and water treatment supplies. Update Delivery Schedule for Security.
· Work with Process Specialists / Engineering / Corporate to assure new additive / chemical MSDS / specifications are set up before new materials arrive on site and have gone thru the Site Chemical Review Committee.
· Conduct quality review on certificates of analysis for compliance to specifications, maintain all Quality files update GAPS, enter catalyst production/ maintain catalyst quality / certificate of conformance files.
· Work with Corporate Disbursements, Purchasing and vendors to clear blocked invoices, clear invoice system and close all open orders
· Administrator of all warehoused Raw Materials
· Complete month-end reconciliation of chemicals, catalysts, and additives in SAP.
· Responsible for attending safety meetings, safety treks, toolbox meetings, complete job observations, spot the hazards, planned inspections, Life Critical Audits, Plant audits, CBT’s, DOT Training.
· Responsible for loading / unloading chemical checklists, monitoring all modes of shipments to and from unit. The raw material coordinator will report and resolve any CC&A material receipt discrepancies.
· Manage supplier issues by e-mail, phone, plant visits with vendors and with Corporate CC&A Purchasing, or by supplier quality audits.
· Responsible for attending delegated buyer meetings as required.
· Order chemicals maintain inventories for operation/lab directly related to process
· Enter Requisitions; work with site buyers at to set contract agreement for vendors ensuring we follow contract agreements. Give feedback to buyers on what is needed from vendor to ensure that items that are needed are part of the contract pricing (savings), ex: fittings, pipes, etc.
Other Roles & Responsibilities
· Create and report metrics to demonstrate efficiency of process and consumption of materials.
· Work with unit personnel and support groups to address urgent needs for emergency activities.
· Coordinate annual physical inventory or required cycle counts as required by inventory control policy.
· Create, update, and maintain all applicable site procedures required to be carried out by the raw material coordinator.
· Investigate, follow up on, and correct any know CC&A inventory discrepancies per applicable policy or procedure.
· The CC&A material coordinator will receive and maintain all necessary receiving paperwork according to record retention procedures
You Bring This Value
· Typically 2 - 5 years of experience with relevant degree is common, alternatively 5+ years of experience
· High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with department personnel and cross-functional teams.
· Highly motivated, results oriented individual with a strong focus on performance and accountability.
Preferred Qualifications
· Proficient with SAP systems, with the ability to adapt to system enhancements, leverage reporting and data insights, and support continuous improvement initiatives as SAP capabilities evolve.
· Working knowledge of the RMC role, with a proactive approach to expanding functional expertise, anticipating operational needs, and contributing to process improvements and cross-functional collaboration.
