Announcement
In June 2025, LYB announced entering into an agreement and exclusive negotiations for the sale of four olefins & polyolefins sites and the associated business in Europe. The sites to be sold are located in Berre (France), Münchsmünster (Germany), Carrington (UK), and Tarragona (Spain). The sites together represent a scaled olefins and polyolefins platform strategically located in proximity to a longstanding customer base and with access and connectivity to key infrastructure.
Closing of the proposed transaction is currently expected in the first half of 2026. From the start, the new company will be a scaled leader in European Olefins & Polyolefins. Powered by strategically located assets, a diverse product portfolio, and operational excellence, it aims to transform the business, fostering an agile, entrepreneurial culture where fast decision-making and hands-on collaboration drive transformation and growth.
Are you ready?
You will be crucial to a successful transition and, when the sale is closed, success of the new company. You will become part of a new dynamic organization with around 1,800 employees, headquarters in Rotterdam and production sites in France, Germany, UK and Spain with a strong focus on customer excellence.
This is the role
In this role of Sales Manager Specialty you work in a leadership position responsible for managing a sales team with the purpose to represent the company and business strategies, develop the sales optimization, increase total value creation, manage the full order-to-cash process while maintaining a high degree of agility.
You will be responsible of leading and motivating an European based Sales team implementing our company strategies to deliver superior service to customers by working with the business and technical organization. The customer portfolio covers the automotive and healthcare markets, and includes responsibility of the partnership with distribution sales channel.
Furthermore you will be the legal representative for the company in Belgium and you will be able to join chemical / plastics industry associations on behalf of the company.
Responsibilities & accountabilities:
- Develops, leads and integrates a sales team of multi-national and multi-cultural staff ensuring the team is highly effective; individuals are motivated and positioned to realize their potential.
- Builds strong-identity teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals. Fosters a culture of learning. Builds skills and injects talent to accelerate innovate/lateral thinking. - Drives for results and achieves sales and pricing objectives at the customer in terms of contribution margin, volume, customer share, cost management, bad debt and working capital in order to maximize the total value creation for the business
- Develops and nurtures relationships with established partners in order constantly optimize value (pricing vs. volume management) and capture relevant market information for the business
- Constantly review partner portfolio within the Automotive and Healthcare market and the Distribution channel to ensure the current and future set-up will continue to “fit-the-purpose”
- Respects all policies and procedures and proactively “lives” them and ensures formal governance compliance and company work ethic culture
- Supports closure of customer claims in a timely manner and limits LyondellBasell’s exposure related to customer complaints
- Continuously presents opportunistic sales to the business on a regular basis in order to maximize asset loading
- Provides regular up-dates on market intelligence and competitive movements to the business in scope in order to deliver the base of current and future business decisions
- Develops strong relationships with key stakeholders and builds an effective network. Key stakeholders include: Customers and internal interfaces such as business management, quality, technical service, supply chain, customer service, credit, tax, legal and financial services and operates as quickly and effectively as possible in achieving targets
The role will be home office based in Belgium, with regular travel to the HQ in Rotterdam.

This is what you bring
- Min. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field required
- 10 to 15 years of work experience with a minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in Polymers and/or Chemicals, Sales
- Experience in Automotive and/or Healthcare markets preferred
- Basic IT skills (Microsoft Outlook, Office Word/Excel, SAP R/3, SalesForce)
- Fluent in English and preferably an additional European language
