In June 2025, LYB announced entering into an agreement and exclusive negotiations for the sale of four olefins & polyolefins sites and the associated business in Europe. The sites to be sold are located in Berre (France), Münchsmünster (Germany), Carrington (UK), and Tarragona (Spain). The sites together represent a scaled olefins and polyolefins platform strategically located in proximity to a longstanding customer base and with access and connectivity to key infrastructure.
Closing of the proposed transaction is currently expected in the first half of 2026. From the start, the new company will be a scaled leader in European Olefins & Polyolefins. Powered by strategically located assets, a diverse product portfolio, and operational excellence, it aims to transform the business, fostering an agile, entrepreneurial culture where fast decision-making and hands-on collaboration drive transformation and growth.

This role provides leadership and support to drive the NewCo’s GoalZERO vision within an Operational Excellence Management System frame that meets the needs of NewCo’s business.
The role main objective is to continuously drive Process Safety & Loss Prevention performance improvement for NewCo, by providing direction, support, coaching and verification of Process Safety & Loss Prevention Management Systems and improvement plans across the sites.
A Day in the Life
- Provide process safety and risk management leadership to achieve corporate HSE performance goals and drive continuous improvement.
- Serve as the company’s knowledgeable process safety and risk management expert; engage in design for manufacturing sites and capital project teams.
- Actively drive process safety based Learning From Experience and Technology and Knowledge Management.
- Act as document owner of Operational Excellence Loss Prevention and Process Safety standards.
- Actively participate in Process Safety and Loss Prevention Networks.
- Analyse company’s process safety performance using lagging and leading indicators; develop and implement action plans and programs to drive performance.
- Support the development of process safety action plans, including Long Range Plan (LRP) and capital approval processes.
- Support process safety engineering activities including facility siting, safety instrumented systems, relief & flare studies, firefighting systems, etc.
- Be knowledgeable in all applicable process safety and loss prevention regulations, consensus standards, recommended practices, and guidelines.
- Develop and deliver process safety and risk management training programs
- Participate in corporative audits and formal incident investigations.
- Coordinate and support the process safety related capital project activities, including leading Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSRs)

- HSE co-ordination or management of manufacturing / operations organisation in the (petro) chemical industry.
