In June 2025, LYB announced entering into an agreement and exclusive negotiations for the sale of four olefins & polyolefins sites and the associated business in Europe. The sites to be sold are located in Berre (France), Münchsmünster (Germany), Carrington (UK), and Tarragona (Spain). The sites together represent a scaled olefins and polyolefins platform strategically located in proximity to a longstanding customer base and with access and connectivity to key infrastructure.
Closing of the proposed transaction is currently expected in the first half of 2026. From the start, the new company will be a scaled leader in European Olefins & Polyolefins. Powered by strategically located assets, a diverse product portfolio, and operational excellence, it aims to transform the business, fostering an agile, entrepreneurial culture where fast decision-making and hands-on collaboration drive transformation and growth.

This role provides leadership and coordination to drive the NewCo’s GoalZERO vision within an Operational Excellence Management System frame that meets the needs of NewCo’s business.
The role main objective is to continuously drive Occupational Safety performance improvement for NewCo regarding its employees and contractors, by providing direction, support, coaching and verification of Occupational Safety Management Systems and improvement plans across the sites/offices.
A Day in the Life
- Champion, coordinate and implement the ’right sizing’ of Life Critical’s Operational Excellence standards for NewCo, including the roll out of revisions, following any reviews (OE standards ownership).
- Define and coordinate annual Occupational Safety goals and target for NewCo, with clear focus on continuous improvement.
- Occupational safety incidents assessment for trends identification and analysis.
- Develop and implement value adding processes to consistently use global applications, such as SAP and Intelex. Include test of possible new technologies and applications.
- Co-lead periodic regional HSE Manager meetings to provide a forum for the sharing and implementation of appropriate best practices and learning from experience.
- Manage an efficient and effective mentorship program. Occupational Safety focal point.
- Develop and drive comprehensive awareness campaigns, aligned with Corporate initiatives.
- Champion and participate, as required, in internal self-assessments and OE audits to identify risks, opportunities and best practices.
- Work with Manufacturing Director to give input and validation for long range planning requests.
- Participate in due diligence activities as and when required and support any subsequent integrations

Area of Expertise, Requirements
- HSE co-ordination or management of manufacturing / operations organisation in the (petro) chemical industry.
- Substantial knowledge of HSE/OE processes and management.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to lead through influence and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in auditing and incident investigation processes
- Extensive working knowledge of corporate applications, such as SAP and Intelex.
Person Specification
Education
- Chemical or Process Engineering degree or other relevant sciences / discipline
Work Experience
- 5 years of experience in HSE co-ordination / management in the (petro) chemical industry
- 10 years of manufacturing experience
Languages
- English, French
- Additional languages could be an advantage
