As part of our activities, we are looking for a Sr. Net Zero Business Development Manager (F/M) for US - Europe.

Basic Function

The Business Development Manager will lead and develop business opportunities to help accelerate the 2050 Net Zero strategy and 2030 intermediate milestones.

This role will develop options for alternative outlets of waste streams to enable transition to low carbon steam sources, analyse the transition of natural gas to alternative fuels which includes but it not limited to natural gas and hydrogen blends, hydrogen and other alternatives. The individual will analyse carbon capture opportunities against alternatives according to market capability.  
 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for involvement in CCS or H2 partnerships and consortia, defining the appropriate strategy 
  • Assess the commercial opportunities for Green, Blue and other low carbon Hydrogen with a high level understanding of the technology and a detailed look at the infrastructure development
  • Monitor the evolving landscape in the Renewable Energy, Hydrogen and Carbon Capture, with the ability to contribute to, communicate and execute a strategic plan
  • Coordinate stakeholders internally and externally with intercultural communication/presentation skills including the ability to communicate across stakeholders including senior management
  • Develop and manage key external stakeholder relationships including: industrial gas suppliers, midstream suppliers, renewable energy developers, consortia, CO2 transport and sequestration service providers and other applicable forums
  • Liaise with Innovation to assess pre and post combustion CC technologies, as commercial relationships for transport and sequestration develops
  • Sustainable solutions developed will contemplate the understanding of equity considerations around the energy transition and how they can be addressed by the business community
  • Consider in commercial evaluation opportunities, benefits and risks. Ensure well managed and appropriate balance between risk and reward.  Willing to think broadly in seeking solutions.  
  • Display agility and appropriate sense of urgency in order to operate as quickly and effectively as possible in achieving targets.
  • Collaborate with Net Zero Integration Planners to ensure that market capabilities are included in site roadmaps
  • Represent LYB as appropriate in external forums, alliances, and industry associations 

Min. Qualifications

Education :

  • University degree in engineering, or other related technical disciplines
  • Master degree in Business preferred

 

Work Experience : 

  • Minimum of 10 years gained in the petrochemical or steel/aluminum or energy/utilities or technology/engineering & construction companies, having developed a proven significant exposure to decarbonization and low carbon technologies. A specific experience in the hydrogen and/or carbon capture space will be a plus.
  • Proven track record of commercial skills with the capability to negotiate the best deal for the company considering the balance of short/long term, cost, complexity and risks
  • Experience with developing and implementing new commercial or business opportunities 
  • Experience in utility procurement and development of low carbon solutions

Preferred Qualifications

Skills :

  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate high value utility contracts, preferably with experience in performing a buy versus make analysis (e.g. steam and industrial gases)
  • Experience in developing partnerships and managing supplier relationships
  • Enterpreneural experience
  • Demonstrated ability in building effective teams 
  • Solid understanding of value drivers in the B2B industrial value chains  
  • Demonstrated ability in developing business cases, evaluating technologies and assessing opportunities
  • Economic modelling


Languages :

  • Fluent in English
  • For EU region a second language is preferred (German, French, Dutch)
