The position of Maintenance Technician includes multiple tasks that ultimately support good manufacturing practices and on time delivery to the customer. The individual must be able to support all manufacturing maintenance activities in the facility. This position is responsible for maintaining the electrical and mechanical equipment of the Site by effectively and efficiently using the available resources. This position is also responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety standards. #LI-LL2
A Day in the Life:
SAFETY
- Comply with all safety requirements resulting in zero safety violations. This includes participating in all safety related activities such as safety talks, behavioral based safety observations, audits, etc.
- Proper use of Lock Out, Tag Out and Try Out procedures
- Follow all company Safety Procedures, Fall Protection, Arc Flash, etc.
MECHANICAL
- Troubleshoot PLCs and AC, DC Drives.
- Disassemble equipment using a wide variety of hand and power tools as well as micrometers, calipers, gages, and meters to determine if tolerances of critical components are within prescribed limits.
- Re-assemble equipment using precision-measuring equipment to properly fit and adjust critical clearances and components.
- Various mechanical repairs, consisting of, but not limited to:
- Grinding and bending of metal.
- Changing/adding oil to gearboxes and bearings.
- Changing oil filters and other filters as necessary
- Replace miscellaneous belts on all equipment.
- Remove and install heater bands.
- Using torch for burning and heating including light welding as necessary.
ELECTRICAL
- Provide technical expertise in the installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, pro-active maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of unit equipment including: Transformers, breakers and other power distribution equipment, motor starters, motors, etc., Level instruments, flow and pressure instruments, control valves, PLC's and other process and machinery control systems
- Applies electrical theory and related knowledge in the testing, trouble-shooting, configuring, teardown/rebuilding, and repairing of operational electrical machinery and electrical control equipment and circuitry in a large refinery
- Tests, trouble-shoots, configures, rebuilds, and repairs motor-control devices, switch panels, transformers, and other electrical equipment and components according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles
- Modifies electrical systems to correct functional deviations under the direction of an Electrical Engineer or Specialist
- Diagnoses the cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance
- Is able to understand and initiate correction of electrical one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion
- Records data associated with periodic electrical testing, and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards
PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE & MAINT REPORTING
- Performs preventative maintenance (PM) related duties as assigned.
- Enter work orders and Notifications in SAP.
- Work with production to scheduled downtime needed for PM’s and repairs.
- Develops the proper approach to correcting specific malfunctions then independently plans and organizes the repair sequences necessary to correct problems pertaining to mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
- Shift reporting and record keeping.
Housekeeping - maintain shop areas in a clean and organized fashion.
Assist production personnel as need. Product changeovers.
Performs other duties within the scope of the position as assigned.

- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- 2 or more years’ experience in industrial/manufacturing multi-craft maintenance.
- Ability to use shop and hand tools, multi-meter, and Meg ohm meter.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Proficient knowledge of preventative maintenance practices.
- Ability to work overtime or weekends on short notice as needed;
- Ability to apply basic mathematics skills.
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Ability to work proactively and support other personnel and departments.
- Possess a professional attitude.
- Ability to multitask and good time management skills
- Maintain good attendance habits missing minimal work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of working with control and 480 volt electrical circuits preferred.
- Electrical/mechanical apprenticeship completion preferred.
- Ability to weld carbon and stainless steel. Using a Mig and Stick welder.
- PLC knowledge a plus.
- Technical degree a plus.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Stand on feet for 8-12 hours.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.
- Willing and able to comply with respiratory fit testing (where applicable).
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required to be worn.
- Ability to work in moderate noise level atmosphere.
- Ability to work in an environment that is not temperature-controlled; very warm temperatures in summer months and very cold temperatures in winter months
