Basic Function
As a member of the Laboratory team, you will be responsible for providing efficient and cost-effective routine and non-routine analytical and physical testing on products produced and/or samples generated at this site. Laboratory Technicians are also accountable for working safely, independently, and efficiently while always seeking to implement methods which reduce costs, improve quality, and reduce the potential for injury. You will be accountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers, promoting a safe work environment, and carrying out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.
A Day in the Life
• Perform routine and non-routine sample analyses.
• Document, communicate, and archive analytical results.
• Test quality control standards to ensure validity of sample results per lab procedures.
• Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Ensure the operational integrity, calibration, and functionality of assigned laboratory instrumentation and equipment, taking lead responsibility for readiness and performance.
• Maintain records in accordance with laboratory procedures and applicable quality or regulatory standards.
• Participate on committees dealing with investigations, policy and procedure development, and improving the work place environment.
• Candidate will be required to mentor other laboratory technicians when necessary.
• Engage in frequent developmental dialog with supervisor and others to continually enhance personal and group performance.

Required Qualifications:
• Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a laboratory technician.
• Polymers testing experience including melt index, FT-IR, XRF, CAST film and density analysis.
• Must be willing and able to work occasional plant call-outs.
• Must be willing to work with hazardous and/or flammable chemicals (with proper safety precautions, training, and equipment).
• Must be willing and able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Must be willing and able to work in environments that require frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a diverse set of cross functional groups.
• Proven organizational skills and ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Must be able to perform job with minimal direction from supervision and identify opportunities to improve.
• Proficient computer skills are required to effectively use required software applications.
• Complete tasks wearing required personal protective equipment which may include fire protective clothing, goggles, face shields, gloves, steel toe boots, hearing protection, etc.
