Basic Function

We are currently seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager for our sites located in Bay City (aka “Matagorda”), Alvin (aka “Chocolate Bayou”) and Victoria, Texas – collectively known as our “South Texas Polymers” sites. The South Texas Polymers sites produce High Density Polyethylene and are comprised of a client group of approximately 300 employees.  

This is an outstanding career opportunity for the experienced HR Manager who possesses a track record of success in management and leadership within the chemical, petrochemical or refining industry. The role combines a manufacturing HR management function with leading day-to-day client interaction for the key production areas of the site.  

Roles & Responsibilities

•    Supervise, mentor and coach one HRBP direct report.
•    Provide one point of contact for HR support for the designated client groups to assist in the achievement of business goals and objectives, providing partnership with internal client leadership at all levels.
•    Act as a trusted advisor to management, ensuring the establishment of sound management practices, aligned with HR policy, procedure and practices, and consistent decision-making processes across the lines of business.
•    Work closely with employees and their managers with regard to employee development and career growth.
•    Lead the delivery of all HR processes for assigned clients, such as merit planning, performance management, succession planning, etc.
•    Lead the improvement of HR processes and data requests with zero defects.
•    Partner with leaders on the development and implementation of organizational structure changes, including identifying impact and assisting in communication as needed.
•    Provide counsel to client leaders to proactively anticipate and address HR issues.
•    Partner with the business unit and Talent Acquisition to develop a strong recruiting and workforce planning strategy to stay ahead of attrition. 
•    Participate in project teams in client organization, providing guidance and support as appropriate.
•    Participate in HR teams on HR projects as requested.
•    Proactively manage all employee relations issues and take appropriate action to mitigate risks.
•    Maintain compliance with all applicable employment statutes and regulations as well as with internal policies, procedures and Code of Conduct. 
•    Conduct investigations into complaints of violations of Code of Conduct and human resources policies, and provides written investigation reports to Legal and Compliance.
 

Min. Qualifications

•    Bachelor's degree with a preference in Business Administration or Human Resources Management. Graduate degree strongly preferred.
•    Requires 8 years of HR Management experience, preferably in the chemical, petrochemical or refining industry, with 3 years minimum experience supervising others.  
•    Comfort working and communicating with employees at all levels in geographically-dispersed business operations.
•    Highly collaborative orientation, with strong consultative, analytical and organizational skills.
•    Must have solid HR fundamentals and broad-based experience in HR, including understanding of EEO laws and conflict resolution.
•    Highly developed influencing and communication skills (written, interpersonal, and verbal), combined with the stature and experience to effectively represent the Company before a variety of audiences.
•    Possess functional expertise in talent management, organization design, change management, employee relations, recruiting and staffing, training, and leadership/management development, including succession planning.
•    Be familiar with HR best practices including change management, motivation, and employee development within a highly results-oriented environment.  
•    Ensure operational excellence and have the analytical skills to effectively analyze data, draw appropriate conclusions, and provide useful and insightful recommendations.
•    Strategic thinker with the ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
•    Confident, savvy, well prepared individual with the ability to adapt quickly and advance the goals for the organization across all levels.
•    Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite – particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word.  Familiarity with SAP and recruiting software (SuccessFactors) is very helpful.
