Basic Function

LyondellBasell is searching for a Control Systems Engineer for the Matagorda High Density Polyethylene Facility, located in Matagorda TX. This position has the responsibility for supporting and improving the Plant DCS, basic regulatory control configuration, and applications and Safety Instrumented Systems, as well as identifying and implementing new systems to improve plant profitability, stability, reliability, and safety.  This position handles a broad range of challenges that require routine interaction with other work groups to ensure maximum value is derived from the control systems.

Roles & Responsibilities

•    Implement, maintain and troubleshoot, DeltaV Process Control Systems
•    Define and support DCS regulatory control strategies
•    Monitor system and network performance
•    Ensure compliance with corporate security standards, control system life cycle planning and budgeting 
•    Provide technical consultation, formal and informal training, and development of documentation, standards and procedures in relation to their role
•    Act in a support or team role for a variety of capital and expense projects
•    Provide technical consulting and direction to the Process Control Specialist and less experienced Control Engineers
•    Provide support for controller performance and alarm management KPIs

Min. Qualifications

•    Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required
•    Minimum of 5 years of Control Systems experience in manufacturing industry required
•    Minimum of 4 years of experience in key technologies, including DeltaV DCS
•    This position requires negotiating skills and the ability to resolve conflict across departmental lines to achieve objectives
•    The individual should understand process engineering theory and have the ability to learn control theory fundamentals
•    This position requires a commitment to learn and understand the development and application of new control systems and new control strategies
•    Candidates must have excellent leadership, ethics, teamwork, and communication skills with a results-oriented commitment.  The ability to manage multiple and changing priorities is essential
