Asia Feedstock Operator cum Charterer
Basic Function
The Asia Feedstock Operator/Charterer is responsible for VLGC (Very Large Gas Carrier) chartering and daily operation management. This position reports to the Feedstock Procurement Manager with a dotted line reporting to the Asia Supply Chain Director.
Roles & Responsibilities
• To interface with freight market players and brokers for insight trends, market flow and developments to aid freight chartering decision making process
• Work closely with Feedstock Procurement Manager to secure VLGC to complement and enhance supply chain value for Feedstock procurement process
• Familiar with and have a good working knowledge of VLGC chartering process
• Commercially minded with good negotiation skills and possess the ability to make tactical market positioning when negotiating VLGC charter
• Ability to independently handle VLGC charter negotiations, commercial disputes, CP contract management, internal approval processes, audit walk through process and VLGC charter related queries
• Ensure proper documentation and timely system updates for VLGC charter, vessel operation and trade deal information updates including BL date and quantity actualization, costs accruals/actualization and payment tracking support
• Have good working knowledge and experience in handling physical operation of clean products like LPG and Naphtha
• Ensure smooth and timely handling of FOB/CFR/DAP vessel operations including vessel vetting for load port, discharge port and internal safety/vetting requirements, stowage planning according to feedstock procurement requirement, vessel itinerary update, issue voyage order, inspector nomination, LC handling, verifying billing and payment advices, demurrage management, vessel operation risk controls, scrutinize commercial contracts for operational compliance and countering, operation trouble shooting, dispute management with stakeholders and other vessel related duties.
• Maintain good working relationship and liaise with all stakeholders including supplier, end receiver, broker, joint venture partner, feedstock procurement manager, risk management team, treasury and backoffice team to ensure all operational and contractual obligations arising from cargo trade and vessel charter are fulfilled.
• Handle any ad-hoc assignments as and when required.
Min. Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor degree or equivalent
Work Experience
• At least 5 years of strong technical chartering experience in commodity trading or tanker industry; experience in VLGC chartering is preferred
• Possess good working knowledge of Maritime law
• At least 5 years of strong physical petroleum oil handling experience with good understanding and working knowledge of product characteristics; Experience in LPG and Naphtha cargo handling is required
• Experience and confidence in dealing with commercial counterpart like shipowner, broker and trader
