Asia Feedstock Operations Specialist

Basic Function

The role is crucial in the Feedstock Procurement department to support the Asia Feedstock Procurement Manager to minimize feedstock costs and optimize feedslate and P&L. This position is responsible for VLGC (Very Large Gas Carrier) chartering and daily operation management.
The incumbent will have intensive interaction with cross functional communication on planning, technology, supply logistics, credit, finance, supply accounting and cracker system to optimize feedslate exposure in dynamic market environment. This position reports to the Feedstock Procurement Manager with a dotted line reporting to the Asia Supply Chain Director.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Support Asia Feedstock Procurement Manager on liaison with other business and manufacturing groups within LyondellBasell to ensure that company strategies and directives involving feedstocks are known and met..
• Assist Asia Feedstock Procurement Manager to maintain strong market relationships and represent LYB in appropriate industry environments, relating to physical and paper derivative markets.
• To interface with freight market players and brokers for insight trends, market flow and developments to aid freight chartering decision making process
• Work closely with Feedstock Procurement Manager to secure VLGC to complement and enhance supply chain value for Feedstock procurement process
• Familiar with and have a good working knowledge of VLGC chartering process
• Commercially minded with good negotiation skills and possess the ability to make tactical market positioning when negotiating VLGC charter
• Ability to independently handle VLGC charter negotiations, commercial disputes, CP contract management, internal approval processes, audit walk through process and VLGC charter related queries
• Ensure proper documentation and timely system updates for VLGC charter, vessel operation and trade deal information updates including BL date and quantity actualization, costs accruals/actualization and payment tracking support
• Have good working knowledge and experience in handling physical operation of clean products like LPG and Naphtha
• Ensure smooth and timely handling of FOB/CFR/DAP vessel operations including vessel vetting for load port, discharge port and internal safety/vetting requirements, stowage planning according to feedstock procurement requirement, vessel itinerary update, issue voyage order, inspector nomination, LC handling, verifying billing and payment advices, demurrage management, vessel operation risk controls, scrutinize commercial contracts for operational compliance and countering, operation trouble shooting, dispute management with stakeholders and other vessel related duties.
• Maintain good working relationship and liaise with all stakeholders including supplier, end receiver, broker, joint venture partner, feedstock procurement manager, risk management team, treasury and back office team to ensure all operational and contractual obligations arising from cargo trade and vessel charter are fulfilled.
• Handle any ad-hoc assignments as and when required.

Min. Qualifications

Education
• Bachelor degree or equivalent

Work Experience
• Knowledge or experience in VLGC chartering is preferred
• Commercially minded with at least 10 years of strong physical petroleum cargo operation
experience
• Possess good understanding of petroleum product characteristics and working knowledge of logistics operational procedures such as inspector appointment, issuing documentary instructions and voyage orders, LC handling, demurrage claims management, contracts vetting and handling shipping documents
• Experience in physical cargo operation of LPG and Naphtha cargo is required
• Experience in SAP systems
• Possess good working knowledge of Maritime law
• Experience and confidence in dealing with commercial counterpart like shipowner, broker and trader
