Position Summary / Basic Function
The Warehouse Leader is responsible for overseeing and optimizing daily warehouse operations to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate handling of materials, inventory, and shipments, while leading and developing a high-performing team; this role drives operational excellence by coordinating receiving, storage, and distribution activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and collaborating cross-functionally to meet customer service, cost, and productivity objectives.
A Day in the Life
Operational Leadership (40-50%)
- Supervise daily warehouse activities including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping
- Assign and monitor work to warehouse team members (5–10 associates)
- Ensure on-time material flow to production and on-time shipment to customers
- Coordinate closely with production, planning, and procurement.
- Coordinate with planners and suppliers to determine best allocation of orders for inbounds and storage.
- Implement continuous improvement actions to enhance productivity, quality, and cost performance.
- Continuous improvement of Warehouse Operation Program.
- Optimize operating costs, creating a competitive advantage that supports the plant’s strategy.
Hands-On Execution supporting Warehouse Operations Specialist (30-40%)
- Perform core warehouse tasks as needed
- Step in during peak periods, absences, or bottlenecks
- Troubleshoot operational issues in real time
Inventory Management (10–15%)
- Maintain high inventory accuracy (cycle counts, audits)
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Ensure proper material identification, labeling, and location control
- Support ERP/WMS transactions (receipts, transfers, adjustments)
Shipping & Receiving Coordination (10–15%)
- Oversee and plan inbound and outbound scheduling
- Ensure proper documentation (BOLs, packing lists, shipping labels)
- Coordinate with carriers and resolve shipment issues
- Enforce compliance with shipping and safety regulations
- Review and analyze orders flagged as "late - unknown" from all the Altamira shipping locations in Mexico, reconciling these orders in conjunction with the account specialist and the inventory planner.
Authorities
- Assign and prioritize daily tasks and workloads for warehouse personnel.
- Enforce company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety regulations within the warehouse.
- Stop operations when unsafe conditions or non-compliance with safety standards are detected.
- Monitor, evaluate, and provide feedback on employee performance and productivity.
- Make operational decisions related to inventory control, storage, and material flow to ensure efficiency.
- Plan, schedule, and adjust logistics activities within the assigned flow (Inbound or Outbound) according to operational requirements.
- Authorize and execute rescheduling of logistics operations to ensure continuity of plant operations and customer service.
- Initiate inventory adjustments and escalate for approval according to the Delegation of Authority (DOA).
- Authorize incidences.
Position Requirements
Minimum Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
Preferred Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering or related field.
Minimum Technical Knowledge Required
- Warehousing and material handling.
- Inventory management.
- Logistics of FTL / LTL / HT shipments.
- Domestic shipment documentation.
- Warehouse infrastructure knowledge.
- Warehouse management systems (WMS/ERP) such as SAP or similar.
Preferred Technical Knowledge
- Bulk truck and trailer shipments.
- Rail operations experience.
- SAP WMS.
Minimum Required Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015
- Generate accurate and complete records.
- Safety and local regulations.
- Basic english speaker.
Preferred Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949:2016, ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015.
- Legal and regulatory requirements.
- Fluid english speaker.
Minimum Required Experience
- 5 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or supply chain operations, with demonstrated involvement in process optimization, inventory management, and cross-functional coordination.
Preferred Experience
Additional, 2 years in a supervisory or team leadership role
