The HSEQ Manager is responsible for leading the strategy and execution of the Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental, and Quality systems within the organization. The role encompasses the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Integrated Management System in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and IATF 16949 standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Additionally, the role oversee the quality laboratories responsible for batch closure and line testing, ensuring the reliability of results and the safe release of products. The role is also responsible for site asset security, including the management of security personnel, asset protection, and loss prevention.
A Day in the Life
Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ)
- Design and implement HSEQ policies aligned with legal regulations and international standards.
- Identify and assess risks in operational processes, proposing preventive and corrective measures.
- Oversee legal compliance in occupational safety, health, and environmental matters.
- Promote HSEQ culture through training sessions, internal campaigns, and visible leadership.
- Manage incidents and accidents, including root cause investigations and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, health, environment, and quality.
Integrated Management System (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001, IATF 16949)
- Maintain and improve the integrated management system, ensuring alignment with ISO and IATF standards.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, including preparation, execution, and closure of findings.
- Manage system documentation such as manuals, procedures, work instructions, and records.
- Lead management reviews, presenting results, improvement opportunities, and strategic plans.
- Ensure effective integration of management systems across all operational areas.
- Evaluate suppliers and processes according to quality and traceability requirements (especially relevant for IATF 16949).
Batch Closure and Line Testing Laboratories
- Supervise laboratory operations, ensuring reliability and traceability of results.
- Validate testing and calibration methods, ensuring compliance with technical standards and customer requirements.
- Ensure availability of equipment, reagents, and trained personnel for line testing and batch closure.
- Analyze laboratory results to release products, detect deviations, and initiate corrective actions.
- Coordinate continuous improvement in testing processes, including automation, digitization, and statistical control.
- Guarantee data integrity, complying with regulatory and customer requirements (e.g., in automotive or pharmaceutical sectors).
Security
- Design and implement the site’s asset security plan, including access control, patrols, electronic surveillance, and emergency protocols.
- Manage security personnel (guards), including hiring, training, shift assignment, and performance evaluation.
- Coordinate with private security and technology service providers (CCTV, alarms, biometric control).
- Investigate asset security incidents (theft, intrusion, vandalism) and establish preventive measures.
- Oversee compliance with entry and exit protocols for personnel, visitors, vehicles, and goods.
- Maintain communication with local authorities in case of emergencies or risk situations.

- Minimum - Knowledge of NOMs (Mexican Official Standards)
- Minimum - Knowledge of ISO 9001
- Desirable - Knowledge of ISO 14001 & ISO 45001

Authority:
- Enforce safety, health, environmental regulations, and product requirements at all times.
- Establish corrective actions in occupational health and safety, process safety, asset protection, and environmental matters to ensure the effectiveness of the Integrated Management System.
- Report to Senior Management on HSE performance at the Altamira Plant
- Halt activities that could compromise the integrity of personnel, equipment, infrastructure, or the environment.
- Authorize or deny access to plant facilities for contractors in general.
- Act as a representative before government agencies for procedures, audits, or specific requirements.
- Sign work permits as safety personnel.
- Release or block finished products according to quality assurance.
- Approve payroll incidents for their work team.
Education
- Chemical, Industrial, or related Engineering.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the manufacturing industry.
- Preferred experience of 10 years or more in the manufacturing industry.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an HSE and/or Quality Supervisor.
- Preferred experience of at least 3 years as an HSE and/or Quality Coordinator
Languages:
- English – minimum level required to engage in written and spoken conversations.
