This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and utilizes mechanical, electrical and instrumentation skills based on education and experience to resolve mechanical, electrical and instrument issues at the Akron LyondellBasell facility. This includes troubleshooting, calibrating, and repair of all electrical and instrument equipment to maintain continuous operation of the site’s operating units. #LI-LL2

 

1st Shift: 8am - 4pm 

A Day in the Life

  • Accountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers and promoting a safe work environment
  • Responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations
  • Provide technical expertise in the installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, pro-active maintenance, Strong troubleshooting, and repair of unit equipment including: Transformers, breakers and other power distribution equipment, motor starters, motors, etc., Level instruments, flow and pressure instruments, control valves, PLC's and other process and machinery control systems
  • AC/DC theory Mid (4160VAC) to low (24DC)
  • Maintenance to site process equipment, including installation of conduit for new equipment.
  • Applies electrical theory and related knowledge in the testing, trouble-shooting, configuring, teardown/rebuilding, and repairing of operational electrical machinery and electrical control equipment and circuitry in a large facility.
  • Tests, trouble-shoots, configures, rebuilds, and repairs motor-control devices, switch panels, transformers, and other electrical equipment and components according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles
  • Modifies electrical systems to correct functional deviations under the direction of an Electrical Engineer or Specialist
  • Diagnoses the cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Is able to understand and initiate correction of electrical one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion
  • Records data associated with periodic electrical testing, and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards
  • The individual must be able to support all manufacturing maintenance activities in the facility. Responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety standards.
  • Re-assemble equipment using precision-measuring equipment to properly fit and adjust critical clearances and components.
  • Performs preventative maintenance (PM) related duties as assigned.
  • Enter work orders and Notifications in SAP.  
  • Work with production to scheduled downtime needed for PM’s and repairs.
  • Develops the proper approach to correcting specific malfunctions then independently plans and organizes the repair sequences necessary to correct problems pertaining to mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.

You Bring This Value

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years’ electrician experience working with industrial electrical power distribution equipment and systems
  • 2+ years’ experience with mechanical maintenance in an industrial setting
  • Experienced in all commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the electrical field
  • Must demonstrate a satisfactory level of technical and professional skills/knowledge in the electrical discipline
  • NCCER certification in electrical maintenance a plus

Preferred Qualifications

Associate level electrical/instrumentation degree or equivalent two year trade school.
