Account Manager

Basic Function

The incumbent of this role within the Asia Intermediates & Derivatives (I&D) Sales Team is responsible for delivery of the sales budget, mainly Glycols, PO derivatives or other items will be assigned as needed. The job holder will independently manage key customers and distributors interfaces, collect market intelligence, devise plans to achieve growth target with the business management function. The role will work closely with the sales manager and support the delivery of the South Asia sales budget, and is expected to work independently with minimal supervision. 

Territory:  South East Asia 

Manage the territory in which individual operates by:
Compliant with safety standards and company policies in the course of conducting business activities assigned to the individual 
Devise and propose to Sales Manager the execution plan in line with business strategies and performance measurement per product line
Effectively build up and manage the sales channels within the responsible territory
Good negotiation and communications skills, leverage on and appreciate the value of team working model. 
Confident, initiative, strong drives for achievement but disciplined, meet sales and expenses targets.
Strong interpersonal skills and be able to maintain good working relationship with key local and global accounts, including contracts negotiation and all commercial and developmental activities coordination.
Be able to facilitate cross-functional coordination relate to account management operations.
Works collaboratively with key stake holders, including Business Management, Supply Chain and other Staff Functions to meet customer requirements in the context of achieving LYB Business objectives

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Account for development and execution of annual sales plans including pricing initiatives, contract negotiation, and customer margin management
  • Manage and develop all aspects of the key account relationships in support of the agreed sales plan for the region including developing annual account plan and portfolio, complaint management, contract management, credit/payment issues, and perform regular performance reviews. 
  • Responsible for managing all distributor performance and activities within the territory by providing guidance and active support such as joint customer visits and performance reviews. Ensure distributors adhere to the product stewardship requirements as well as the terms and conditions as stipulated in the distributor agreements.
  • Identify and develop new account prospects for new/existing products or alternative options for lost business/accounts
  • Support all activities of Sales Manager for S Asia including regional account coordination, gathering market intelligence, and provision of monthly sales report and volume forecast
  • Provide leadership in cross-functional activities related to Sales with different departments such as Business, HSE, Supply Chain, Finance and Credit.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance to company policy and safety standards

Min. Qualifications

University level degree in Business or Science subjects, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred 
Work Experience: 
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a commercial role in which 3 years within the chemical industry.
