Basic Function

APS US/CAN Sales Account Manager will oversee specific assigned areas for strategic account management and new sales prospecting.  The candidate shall plan and direct all sales activity for both established and prospective accounts.  The candidate promotes APS Engineered Plastics and other plastic compounding solutions. #LI-LL2

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Working on teams as necessary by OEM with all other critical LYB functions: Sales (Molder), BDM, PAD, ADTS, and Marketing.
  • To promote and sell company products by interacting and delivering value to established customers and new prospects.
  • To gain knowledge of the APS product portfolio and promote product characteristics that align with customers specifications, needs and expectations.  
  • Build customer business relationships through integrity, face to face sales calls and providing impeccable customers service as needed and appropriate.
  • Builds internal business relationships cross functionally in support of customers to deliver value and resources as needed.  
  • Implements price and contract negotiations.
  • Manage pricing, request for quotes, and terms of sales and contracts in line with stated business objectives.
  • Participates in APS annual planning processes.
  • Supply crises management (e.g. allocations, shut-downs, force majeure events, etc.) and communication internally and externally at OEM and/or Tier molder customers as may be required.  Representing LYB in this role for all LYB business units (APS, O&P, etc.)
  • Forecast monthly demand and supports the planning process for all divisions. 
  • Ensures all commercial aspects of the business are handled according to company compliance guidelines and policies:  Contract negotiations, contracts/price agreements, records retention. 
  • Effectively communicates (weekly calls, sales meetings, call reports, etc.) on assigned team and customer activities. 
  • Effectively executes APS business goals and objectives. 
  • Builds and maintains an active pipeline of new business opportunities and updates Sales Force to communicate progress and actions.
  • Consistently meets and exceeds sales expectations.

  • Mobility - ability to travel is essential, ability and willingness to relocate may be required, Metro Detroit area highly preferred.

  • Organized and accountable - ability to work independently, proactively identifying sales opportunities, tracking progress, closing new business while managing existing customers and business needs.

  • Excellent presenter - ability to present oneself in an appropriate manner while representing the company.
  • Time management - ability to prioritize multiple tasks and activities effectively and efficiently.
  • Digital Tools – skilled at utilizing Microsoft 365 and other SAP digital tools for analytics, communicating and collaborating on plans and actions that are in the best interest of the company. 

Min. Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in one of the following fields: Scientific, Technical or Business
  •  5 years or more of relevant professional experience in a commercial or technical role (Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Engineering, Product Management, etc..) 
  •  Willingness to travel to meet with Both OEM customers and their Tier Molders, innovation centers, HQ, etc. as needs dictate.
  •  Basic computer and software skills including Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel), Salesforce.com, etc. 
  •  Strong communication skills, ability to interact across the organization with a variety of functional groups
  •  Capability to manage activities across a matrix organization Demonstrated proficiency with prioritization and decision making
  •  Strong Negotiation Skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the Automotive Industry is highly preferred
  • Experience with both PP Compounds and Compounded Engineering Resins is preferred
