For our business unit Circular and Low Carbon Solutions (C&LC) in Germany / the Netherlands we are looking for a

 

Waste Plastics Sourcing Manager (m/f/d)

 

This position is responsible for securing targeted feedstock volumes for LyondellBasell recycling plants in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. A deep understanding of the operational challenges of the recycling plants is needed which requires weekly physical presence in the plants and a close link to the local operational teams.

 

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Use and expand the existing network of potential feedstock suppliers to secure targeted input volumes for the LYB recycling plants in scope - this includes developing and testing of new feedstock flows in close cooperation with the plants.
  • Act as an “Account Manager” towards existing, prospect and new feedstock suppliers which includes relationship-, contract-, claim-management and price negotiations.
  • Finalization and execution of supply contracts: responsible for drafting supply contracts in alignment with LYB legal department and agreeing with the plants local finance team on feedstock price ranges for negotiation with suppliers.
  • Build and keep trustful long term relationships with key feedstock suppliers.
  • Keep good faith regular contacts with the suppliers to discuss quality/claims, volumes, prices, future plans etc.
  • Observe the EPR market in Europe and organize participation in their tenders where it seems appropriate.
  • Create a strong link with the LYB plants local operational teams and deeply understand their operational challenges – be present in the plants every week.
  • Daily alignment with the plants local supply chain and production team to secure optimized and efficient operations at the plant with respect to feedstock (appropriate input stock level, low feedstock quality fluctuation, etc.).
  • Cooperate strategically and operationally with LYB Joint Venture partners who are active in the same markets 
  • Apply deep knowledge about waste shipment regulations.
  • Apply and further extend technical knowhow about waste plastic sorting and recycling to be able to have qualified communication with suppliers about feedstock quality optimization.
  • Apply knowledge of waste plastics markets, municipal/private sorting  plants, waste management companies, EPR schemes, recyclers etc. to further develop and broaden the feedstock sourcing options for the LYB plants in scope and selected other LYB recycling projects.
  • Understand and further deepen knowhow about the link between recycling input waste and output sales applications and vice versa.

 

Required Areas of Expertise

  • Account Management - Proven experience and demonstrated success in a trading, sales or purchasing position.
  • Commercial Mindset - Ability to effectively structure and negotiate supply contracts and help identify and resolve issues with complex contracts. Proven execution capabilities are key.
  • Relationship Building - Proven experience and demonstrated success in developing collaborative, strategic relationships and building trust with senior stakeholders at suppliers. Must exhibit confident and persuasive communication skills as well as a strategic mindset.

 

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • University or college degree in technical area or equivalent
  • Advanced degree, e.g. MBA, preferred
  • At least 4 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Waste Management, sorting and recycling of plastics sector
    • Trading of waste plastics
    • Purchasing of waste plastics or plastic recyclates
  • Fluent in German and  English (written and verbal), speaking Dutch is an advantage
  • Willingness to travel (>50%) as required
  • Based close to the operational plants in scope is a plus
