Basic Function

The Materials Inventory Administrator for the LyondellBasell Victoria Plant, located near Victoria,TX is responsible for the day-to-day evaluation, replenishment and accuracy of Materials Inventory stock. This position is accountable for ensuring the warehouse is organized for efficient and logical flow as well as sound business judgment to standardize procedures and exercise best practices to support enterprise growth. The Administrator is also responsible for Materials Inventory operational activities for the location, including ensuring proper resources are available and assisting in organizing personnel to complete work in a timely, cost-effective manner. They are also responsible for and maintaining best practices and processes through communication with other site personnel.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Performs analysis and processes Catalog material requests for adding, changing, extending and deleting stock material.  
  • Performs Follow-up activities with Plant Maintenance on Bill of Material updates.
  • Replenishes stock using SAP reorder methods, including the review of MRP and/or Collective Requisition processing. Also evaluates historical usage, etc.   
  • Utilizes Purchase Order Follow-on Functions to expedite and maintain current status on MM-Batch Stores PO’s.
  • Evaluates and refines inventory levels to support the long-term goals of inventory reduction and elimination for optimum inventory levels.
  • Participates in Working Capital Program reviews and coordinates inventory write-offs.
  • Processes returns of unused stock and manages “Multiple Returns” follow-up with Site Clients.
  • Coordinates cyclical inventories and Delegation of Authority approvals for adjustment posting.
  • Evaluates, reconciles and coordinates with Vendor and Site Engineering on requirements for material reorders. 
  • Identifies and resolves discrepancies regarding upgrades for material and descriptions.  
  • Provides strategic evaluation of material to determine obsolescence and/or replacement.
  • Designated SAP “Superuser” status for Materials Inventory/Management module; Includes Training Role for MM Personnel and Site Clients.
  • Delegated authority to act on behalf of Materials Inventory supervisor for specific site as needed.
  • Initiates various reports in SAP for material evaluation and monthly performance measurements, KPI’s and metrics.
  • Daily interaction with customers, including Maintenance, Engineering and Operations.
  • Manages materials inventory operational activities on a site basis.  
  • Assists in the deployment of the MI strategic plan to lower total costs. Supports corporate and site initiatives with managers at the sites to ensure goal alignment and clear communication.
  • Ensures proper resources and personnel are available and assisting in organizing personnel to complete work in a timely, cost-effective manner.
  • Support shutdown and turnaround activities.
  • Assists in implementing Materials Inventory best practices for the site to lower costs.
  • Participates as needed with supplier performance evaluation for the site.
  • Ensures high ethical, safety, health and environmental standards are met by the organization.
  • Acts as Zone Stores Coordinator for the site(s) and leads process improvements.  

Min. Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Materials Inventory industry best practices including Integrated Suppliers, Vendor Stocking, Electronic Commerce (including EDI), Stockless Inventory, Bar-coding and Supply Chain Management.
  • Proficient in the use of an Enterprise-wide computer system to effectively manage inventory levels. General knowledge of inventory management including inventory evaluation and analysis.
  • Understanding of business processes and procedures, Materials Inventory and Purchasing processes and workflows.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills, leadership skills, teambuilding, communication and problem-solving competencies and the ability to manage the day-to-day activities and implement long range departmental/site goals.
  • Must have excellent management/interaction skills to effectively manage the daily operations of the department, including customer relations as well as negotiating tasks for continuous operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) year technical degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 6+ year’s warehouse and inventory experience preferred.
