Asia Polyolefins BDA Manager

Basic Function

This position provides Asia O&P management and corporate business unit directors with market analyses to improve mid-to-long term financial performance.  This position covers the role for Business Analysis (BA).

The incumbent serves as the focal point to evaluate, report and make recommendations related to a range of activities. These activities include both commercial and operational decisions related to olefins to polyolefins technology, product optimization analysis among various supply sources, pricing analysis, business profitability, customer profile and revenue growth / cost optimization opportunities.

This position lead Asia business analysis function and interact with Global Strategic and Planning team to develop various stages of Enterprise Planning Process for Asia Pacific including Long Range Plan and Annual Budget for all Asian JVs, Value Enhancement Program (VEP) and Propylene/Polyolefins strategy project developments.  The incumbent also interface with finance team on Asia monomer, PP/PE forecast and Circulen sustainability business to develop Asia EBITDA. 

The position frequently interfaces with Asia Management in Marketing, Sales, China Asset Management and Asia JVs, Corporate Business Unit Directors.  The incumbent is a core member of the Business Team, along with Commercial Management, Sales and S&OP.

The position requires interaction with external consultants; Operations Staff groups (ADTS, Business Finance, HSE,  Supply Chain), JV Business/Planning staff group and a broad array of functional groups such as Finance & Control, Credit, Treasury and Tax.
 

Roles & Responsibilities

    Lead Enterprise Planning Process including volume offtake of Long Range Plan, Budget developments for all global and regional supply sources.  Develop monomer and pricing model and EBITDA of Asian JVs PMC/UPP/HMC/BLYB for Long Range Plan.
    Lead VEP including due diligence and data validation from project initialization to execution.
    Lead earning model process and strategic project development.
    Support Asia Circulen sustainability and JV business report update.
    Provide APAC weekly monomer and polyolefins report for corporate Leadership.  
    Provide performance analysis and reporting including budgets, YTD Actual and forecast.
    Serve as internal consultant to Business Management and challenge on rationale for business decisions.
    Develops and maintains forecasting models of supply/demand for O&P products.
    Develop business analyses with analytical input on competitor and customer profiles.
    Provide monthly and quarterly reports to BAP commercial organization on Asia business activities, macroeconomics, regulatory, sustainability and related polyolefin downstream analysis.
    Manage monthly Asia COM report for commercial team update on business performance.  
    Report China and other Asian countries import/export statistics with industry trend analysis.
    Provide analytical support to BAP and corporate SP&T organization on development of commercial opportunities as required.  
    Lead market update on pricing discussion with Asian JV supply sources.
    Lead development of PowerBI platform and other commercial digital projects.

Min. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:  
    Minimum 15 years of working experience, with 7 years or more in chemical or related industry with 3 years of planning, evaluation or business analysis experience.
    Bachelor’s degree in either a technical or business field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
    Strong analytical and evaluation skills.
    Interpersonal skills required to work with management and to operate effectively as a business team member.
    Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
    Advanced PC skills, including spreadsheets, database, graphics, statistical forecasting and modeling.  Knowledge of PowerBI preferred.

LANGUAGES:
    Fluent in written and spoken English language skills
    Able to read and write Chinese and communicate in Mandarin
    Cantonese language skill is preferable
