Basic Function

The Leader of Digital Transformation & Planning will play a central role in managing and executing the technology strategy for LYB. This executive position requires a forward-thinking leader with a proven track record of successfully leading digital initiatives, shaping transformational strategies, and driving organizational change.

 

This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities for the Digital Technology (DT) organization and has accountability for DT PMO, DT Finance, Enterprise program management, DT strategy, change management, and overall project lifecycle governance and execution. This position will be based in the LyondellBasell Tower in Houston, Texas.

Roles & Responsibilities

The DT Leader, Digital Transformation & Planning, will oversee all project and governance activities for the DT team including tracking and reporting across a broad portfolio of business and technology initiatives:

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive digital transformation strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define and prioritize technology initiatives that enhance competitiveness and drive growth.
  • Work closely with business unit leaders, technology teams, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of digital initiatives across the organization.
  • Foster collaboration and communication to drive a unified digital vision.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of technology initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and delivering value to the organization.
  • Implement best practices in technology project management and governance.
  • Champion a change management strategy to ensure successful adoption of technology initiatives across the organization.
  • Work closely with teams to foster a culture that embraces and drives digital transformation.
  • Manage and optimize resource allocation to support the execution of technology projects.
  • Collaborate with HR to identify talent needs and support recruitment efforts for technology roles.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of technology initiatives.
  • Regularly assess and report on the performance of technology projects against established KPIs.
  • Act as a point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates on technology project status, milestones, and potential challenges.
  • Foster strong relationships across the organization with technology and business stakeholders.

Min. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. MBA or relevant certifications (e.g., CDTM) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in digital strategy, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading technology projects and driving organizational change.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and influence at the executive level.
  • Exceptional decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technology concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, business units, and external partners.
  • Ability to develop and implement best practices as it relates to project tracking and delivery methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with mentoring others on methods and best-practices.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment and handle multiple issues at once.
  • Demonstrated experience leading change management initiatives and overcoming resistance to change.
  • Ability to think strategically and align technology initiatives with overall business goals.
