Basic Function

The HR Project Manager provides leadership in project, program, and portfolio management. The successful candidate will manage end-to-end delivery of complex cross-functional projects and steward the overall HR project portfolio.
 
The HR Project Manager will balance strategic goals with more detailed project activities, collaborate effectively across global teams, and execute with precision on projects and strategic initiatives while interfacing with and influencing stakeholders, including business leaders, across the enterprise.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead key global HR projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Define and manage successful execution of projects from launch through closure; identify risks and problems, develop mitigation plans and solutions, and drive implementation of initiatives impacting different functions and processes.
  • Work with project sponsors, team, and stakeholders to define scope and deliverables.
  • Build and maintain relationships and ensure project teams and stakeholders work collaboratively and effectively.
  • Develop and implement detailed project plans with clearly identified resources, dependencies, risks, and milestones.
  • Track and report activity to plan milestones and expenditures to budget.
  • Effectively communicate project progress and risks to all levels of the organization.
  • Proactively manage project changes and risks, and escalate as needed for resolution.
  • Steward HR project portfolio in partnership with leadership and project owners – including compiling, evaluating, tracking, and aligning projects.
  • Develop and deploy processes to manage, update, govern, and communicate HR project portfolio.
  • Work with senior managers, leadership, and major stakeholders to ensure projects and project portfolio are aligned with strategic direction and objectives for the organization.
  • Continuously improve PMO strategy, processes, tools, templates, and practices.
  • Train and coach employees on project management principles, processes, and tools.
  • Facilitate planning workshops, project management meetings, and other activities as needed.

Min. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, organizational behavior, or related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant project management and portfolio management experience.
  • Solid project management skills – successful track record of leading complex projects requiring coordination of work across multiple stakeholders, consensus building, risk management, and problem resolution.
  • Sound planning and problem solving capacity and thorough decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Robust presentation and analytical skills including expertise in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail while keeping the larger picture in mind.
  • Possess a consultative style and approach with the proven ability to develop credible relationships and foster trust at all organizational levels.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Possess a high level of maturity, including the ability to appropriately maintain and keep sensitive information confidential.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business and financial acumen.
  • Resilient in the face of competing demands and conflicts; able to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
  • Ability to quickly understand organization’s current technologies, practices, and strategic direction.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Collaborative, able to build relationships, and influence stakeholders.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and operating in an environment without a lot of structure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Change management experience, knowledge of HR processes and tools, and consulting experience is preferred.
