Basic Function

 


The Digital Business Analyst is an individual contributor who is responsible for helping with gathering business requirements to ensure business objectives are met by the new business process changes or IT solutions and is a team member during the design, development, and execution of projects. The Business Analyst will provide support for various projects, around test management, including test approach, scope, tracking (including automation opportunities), training, and hyper-care support. The Business Analyst must help to ensure the full systems lifecycle process is adhered to, overseeing solutions through the entire implementation process.  They must be proficient in Project Management disciplines from requirements gathering through implementation of the functional solution.  The Business Analyst advocates for their clients and acts as the single point of contact for requirements, testing, and training of new software and/or business processes. 


 

Digital leadership to promote and gain alignment for opportunities identified for value creation.
Project Manager resources to create project charters that have contribution to larger business value cases and subsequently help them resolve issues that escalate beyond the level of the project team.
Colleagues across the Global Business Services organization to support value creation opportunities from both the current landscape and also from the digital transformation vision and roadmap.
The Business Analyst must also work closely with Business Partners to monitor customer satisfaction and facilitate improvement of the digital client experience on a continuous basis.  

Roles & Responsibilities

 

 

This position reports to the Digital Portfolio Manager (S&OP, Procurement, Supply Chain and Commercial Excellence) who is responsible for leading the digital portfolio strategies and objectives of that function.
This individual works with Business Partners and global cross-functional teams to support development and prioritization of business segment roadmaps, short and long term project plans. They are responsible for developing and maintaining a trusted business relationship driving the greatest possible business value from IT investments.

 


Specific areas of responsibility and influence include:

 

  • Supports the Procurement & Lead to Cash work streams related to but not limited to, Customer Experience, Pricing Management, Order Management, Planning and Forecasting and Transportation Management
  • Gathers and performs thorough analyses of all the information available.
  • Maintains relationships with business colleagues with excellent communication. 
  • Works closely with business colleagues, to quickly understand new requirements or problems, and then suggest a possible solution after consultation with senior team members and other experts through our Center of Excellence like the Architects, Security, Cloud, and Analytics
  • Oversees and follows up on enhancements and small projects to ensure business requirements are clear and development activities are on schedule.
  • Develop unit test cases and perform testing to ensure requirements are met for system modifications or data extracts.
  • Coordinates the requirements, specifications, and user acceptance testing efforts.
  • Coordinates incident and problem management for assigned functional areas and client groups in support of on-going operations ensuring compliance with stage gate and internal controls.
  • Coordinates monthly enhancement cycle process for requirements gathering, priority setting, testing, sign-off and, training steps. 

Min. Qualifications

 

 

Baccalaureate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline with specialized leadership training and/or demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities through previous experience, and demonstrable digital transformation experience in chemical manufacturing, oil and gas, or digital transformation consulting experience.

 

Required experience, skills, professional attributes, and qualities include the following:

 

  • 4+ years of solutions or domain experience with responsibility in requirements gathering, testing, training support and incident management
  • 4+ years of work experience in a roles that had a client or end-user engagement with experience in both support 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to perform well under pressure and deadlines.
  • Experience in the Petrochemical Industry with strong business acumen.
  • Out-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, and strong self-organization skills.
  • Develop capabilities and services and work with various IT teams to ensure business needs are met effectively and cost-efficiently.
  • Goal driven; action oriented.
  • When needed, can say “no” by offering meaningful alternatives
  • Understand the drivers of organizational change and interdependencies among all the moving parts.
  • Value Oriented, understands technology is a tool with the overriding goal of business success.
  • Partners closely with business partners to analyze new projects and readiness for governance decisions and provide transparency of portfolio investments.
  • More than an "order taker” they are demand shapers – stimulating, surfacing, and shaping business demand.
  • Exposure to and experience in Advanced Analytics/Machine Learning is a differentiator.
  • This position conducts business in more than 6 countries.
  • English is the corporate language and proficiency in language(s) such as Spanish, German, Italian, or French could be a differentiator.
  • Domestic and international travel of about 10% is anticipated.
  • The position will be based out of Houston, Texas.
