Basic Function

As a Business Communication Advisor, you are responsible for developing and executing communication content and planning for North America's Circular and Low Carbon Solutions (C&LCS) business. You will be part of the Business Communications team and work with the C&LCS Business Marketing team to provide communications advice and help position and promote LYB as a leader in the Circular and Low Carbon Solutions market using strategic communications.

 

This position is responsible for developing and executing effective communication content and plans for the C&CLS business unit in North America to key customers, value chain partners and markets. You will create and deliver various marketing communication materials and communications content through digital and social media, literature, advertisements, press releases, newsletters, trade shows, and events for different channels and audiences. You will also assist in planning and organizing trade shows, events, and conferences. It is essential to have excellent marketing communications and writing skills, be able to craft clear, concise, and persuasive messages, be adaptable and flexible in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and be able to collaborate and communicate with multiple stakeholders.

 

This position is part of the Sustainability & Corporate Affairs (S&CA) department and will report to the Business Communications Team.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute clear, concise, and persuasive communications content for C&LCS business in North America, including press releases, articles, talking points, key messages, and presentations.
  • Create effective messaging for marketing literature, product advertisements, and other customer-facing materials. Collaborate with creative services to develop digital content, video, and graphic design.
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with the C&LCS team to ensure communications alignment and support and to leverage and share communications materials and best practices. 
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the content and plan are aligned with the global C&LCS communications strategy.
  • Develop materials and other content to support Business communication plans, including digital content for websites, email marketing campaigns, and social media efforts.
  • Research the communication market and tactics to drive outside-in perspective.
  • Assist and coordinate key tradeshows, conferences and events.
  • Develop and support communications for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Draft and proofread marketing communication materials and enhance presentations intended for mass audience consumption (webinars, conferences, and more.).
  • Collect and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across tactics.
  • Assist with projects from start to finish with client and cross-departmental interaction.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and manage sensitive materials.
  • Command of AP Style with strong and efficient writing skills across digital and print platforms.
  • Ability to transcend technical and complex information to the appropriate audience with simple, clear and concise writing. 
  • Exceptional judgment; ability to think strategically and tactically under pressure, constantly adjusting priorities as circumstances change.
  • Ability to incorporate SEO best practices into digital and web-based copy.
  • Skilled in working with little direction, knowing the goals and performing self-directed research.
  • Proven ability to produce copy that engages, builds relationships and encourages taking action.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, including ability to engender trust, respect and confidence.
  • Assess and keep abreast of emerging best practices in communication, including competitor research to determine the latest trends and strategies. Research to include new products on the market, communication strategy and marketing vehicles (trade ads, email campaigns, and more).

Min. Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of related experience.
  • Excellent English writing/editing capabilities.
  • Second language a plus.
  • Experience in producing written communications for various platforms.
  • Experience in developing and implementing key communications tactics.
  • Experience in supporting events, conferences and tradeshows.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Salesforce, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Adobe Illustrator, SharePoint, and Brandfolder.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude, motivated, independent worker.
  • Familiarity with the creative development process.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.
  • Petrochemical, oil/gas, and polymer industry experience a plus.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Knowledge of the field of circularity is preferred.
