Basic Function

Manages the people and resources at the Fairport Harbor location for LyondellBasell ensuring the safe, cost effective, efficient, and environmentally responsible production of products in accordance with business plans and company objectives. Accountable for all aspects of performance and for all personnel working on site. Responsible for the professional development and career advancement team members. Participates as a member of the overall Olefins & Polymers Americas (OPAM) Manufacturing Management Team and as member / leader of other Manufacturing and Company teams.

Roles & Responsibilities

An overview of the roles and responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:

Site Leadership:  Lead in a manner consistent with the LyondellBasell Leadership Principles through the application of the LyondellBasell Core Competencies. Actively engage with the site workforce in the field / shop floor. Set expectations concerning continual improvement in GoalZERO performance and lead the organization in achievement of safety goals and objectives. Develop and encourage supervisors and employees to think and act independently in alignment with clearly established and communicated expectations. Define clear roles and responsibilities for the site staff, provide authority to meet these roles and responsibilities and hold the organization accountable. Identify the business and organizational needs of the site, ensure site organization is efficient and effective, and ensure the professional development of site employees and organization. Value and champion diversity, inclusion, and equity. 

Company Leadership:  Develop an understanding of Company goals and objectives to ensure that site activities are aligned with other functional groups. As an active member of the O&P Americas Manufacturing Staff, develop working relationships with other Site and functional managers, participate in the development and execution of manufacturing direction/strategy. 

HSE:  Ensure appropriate processes and systems are in place and lead the effort to maintain compliance with LyondellBasell Operational Excellence standards and applicable regulatory agency requirements. Function as a role model for desired safety behaviors. Ensure Security of the site’s personnel and assets on Company property. Acts as the LyondellBasell representative to local, state, and federal governments for compliance with regulations, i.e., EPA, OSHA, etc. 

Planning and Resource Management: Define and communicate a clear vision, mission, and goals for the site, ensure alignment with the Company’s vision and business drivers. Work with marketing for optimization of production planning. Actively manage site headcount to achieve highest value earned at the site and to ensure team effectiveness. Ensure manufacturing systems are in place, functioning well and monitored through appropriate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Understand, communicate, and act on site financial plans and results.

Communications: Develop a workplace environment which allows for effective communication. Promote a sense of openness and trust, coupled with a sense of ownership and accountability.

Employee Relations:  Lead and manage the site according to the cultural expectations of LYONDELLBASELL whereby all employees are respected, have equal opportunity, and receive feedback. Champion and proactively address issues and concerns of employees. Ensure site-wide development process is functional, the Performance Management process is used effectively, developing a learning organization which shares and builds upon lessons learned from experience. Ensure the LyondellBasell Code of Conduct and all other LyondellBasell policies are consistently followed. Manages all labor relations issues at the site regarding bargaining unit employees. Manages union contract, wage and benefit review and modifications for the Fairport Harbor Site to maintain local competitiveness with the chemical industry.

Community:  Be the LyondellBasell ambassador and representative within the local community and positively represent the company in community events. Develop a network of community stakeholders.
 

Min. Qualifications

•    Education: B.S, Engineering, or related field
•    Minimum of ten 10 years of manufacturing experience
•    Minimum of five 5 years of leadership experience in supervisory or management positions
•    A general knowledge and understanding of site operations, capacity planning and sound manufacturing principles.
•    Experience with Operational Excellence programs and Continuous Improvement in leadership and contributing roles.
•    Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills including the ability to interface with internal & external customer contacts.
•    Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage effectively at all levels of the organization.
•    Must possess a high level of initiative, be capable of independent decision-making and work effectively with minimal supervision.
•    Must have excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
•    Knowledge of quality systems and standards with a focus on driving continuous improvement
•    Must possess solid computer skills and working with production software, excel spreadsheets and other reporting applications
 

Preferred Qualifications

•    Experience with polymer extrusion manufacturing process is a plus.
•    Knowledge of engineering and technology principles and practices
•    Knowledge of business, finance and management principles and practices is a plus.
•    Working knowledge of SAP functionality
