Basic Function

Assist the HSE Manager in matters of employee training, ERT preparedness, industrial hygiene, health and safety of employees, and interfacing with the community.
 

Roles & Responsibilities

Accountable for personal safety, the safety of fellow employees and contractors, and for promoting a safe work environment. Ensure that housekeeping and hazard communication standards are maintained. 
    Conduct OE self-assessments for Fire Protection and Loss Prevention and Emergency Preparedness and Response Standards.
    Maintains records of inspections and training conducted as noted below.
    Coordinate training for the Emergency Response Team members to assure compliance with all regulations. Training includes Hazmat, Industrial Fire Brigade, first aid/CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED), and confined space and rope techniques. 
    Coordinate ERT Physical exams, fit testing
    Conduct and coordinate inspection and testing of the plant Fire Protection System including fire pumps, deluge systems, foam systems, fire water loop, hydrants/monitors, and sprinkler systems.  Maintains records of all inspections.
    Conduct and coordinate inspection and testing of the emergency response equipment including SCBA packs, air-line respirators, fire extinguishers, safety showers, hoses, and other emergency equipment including first aid supplies and emergency breathing air supply                systems.  
    Maintain Emergency Response building inventory including Hazmat gear, turnout gear, spill response equipment and supplies, portable LEL and toxic gas meters. 
    Coordinate maintenance activity of emergency response vehicles.
    Conduct training on safety topics including emergency response, pre-incident planning, Incident Command Structure, and exposure/ decontamination safety.
    Support project engineering for improvements and repairs to the plant loss prevention systems
    Monitors Site activities for unsafe acts and conditions particularly high risk activities such as lockout/tagout and non-routine tasks. Assists with the approval process for confined space entries.  Works with supervision in eliminating potential hazards and correcting areas of          non-compliance. Investigates all Site ergonomic and industrial hygiene issues and recommends corrective actions.
    Assists in the investigation of incidents as necessary.
    Responds to employee inquiries and concerns on safety, and informs supervisor of his response.
    Coordinate the Site’s industrial hygiene program and maintains records on air sampling, noise monitoring, biological sampling and ergonomics. Evaluates the workplace and job analysis to ensure good IH practices and recommends modifications to area job classifications         as necessary.

Min. Qualifications

Education:    High School diploma or equivalent. Two year certification in related field or four year college degree preferred.  
Experience:    2+ years in either process plant production or a safety related field (emergency response, training, industrial hygiene or security).
